Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

I'm getting off the medication asap and I'm going to stick the system up itself and light the fuse and watch them all suffer

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @eudemonism,

I can understand your want to get off the medications owing to the side effects.

However, there is no need to make a drastic step towards anything. The idea was to start taking care of yourself and talking out what works well and if there are any modifications required.

Please avoid taking any drastic decisions because there can be steps you can take alongside your medications or while on a reduced dosage. Please do discuss with your physician first and then proceed gradually.

Good Luck

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @Friendconnect sorry about my emotional outbursts. They're quite common. And induced bye the great frustration I'm dealing with.

I've got many elements of the mental and physical realm. And we'll call written and verbal words. (the spirit) in between the two)... many elements... which upset me...

My needs and wants are basic, rational, practical, logical, simple, and uncomplicated... Justified, deserved, righteous, earned and paid for... I believe that if I have them... Life would be a lot easier, more productive, more functional, easier to make progress, more goal driven, and more healthy and happy... But, the thing is... I'm constantly caught up in aspects of the mental health system... Like, call centres, nurses, doctors, support workers, counsellors, psychiatrists, support groups... And coincidentally... My character, frame of mind, and my personality follow suite and mould in... And basically, all these people make livings from dealing with my mental illness, my suffering and my struggles and my problems... Do they make money for curing my illness? And for my health and happiness...?

Hence, there is just as many professionals out there... Who would be more then happy to work with me and my issues... On the basis of it not based around my mental illness... My suffering... My problems... And a one size fits all system text book approach... Which is about diagnosing, medicating, text book system treatment, managing through controlling... And doing nothing else. - very frustrating situation to be stuck in......

The medicated person. And t
the mental health system text book approach. Definitely don't work well together...

I'm hearing what you saying though...

Eude...

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect they all keeping files on me... From the bottom to the top... It's the most dysfunctional system to be caught up in... They are only writing what they each want to read... How sinister? The text book says he has mental illness. And this is what the text book says the answer is. And this is what we are paid to be... Who is really the one suffering from denial? Eude. Strangely I can see why they do what they do...

Hope you're doing well today @eudemonism 🙂

A morning walk is amazingly refreshing. And I usually ground myself (keep feet on grass barefoot).... something so important with the electronic gadgets around.

Hey I'm starting to read this book "What on earth am I here for?" by Rick Warren. You should be able to get a free pdf on Google.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @Friendconnect I'm having a reasonable day...

I don't connect my computers to the net. Only my smartphone. And it's cheap. Not much memory. Not much of a processor... But I'm hoping to upgrade in the next month or so... I store up photos and videos on my smartphone and then empty it onto my laptop... I have a wireless USB modem thing. But rarely buy credit for it... I just play music, write, on my laptop and store stuff I collect on my smart phone on there...

I'm fighting against how my body is feeling. And struggling to tend to the needs of my body. Whether it be rest, sleep and relaxation... Food and water... Exercise and activity... Activities with meaning and purpose... Socialising and Interacting with others... Tending to my responsibilities... Etcetera... And I get in this really desperate state of mind... Which is caused bye how my body is feeling... Basically needing to know what to do and when to do it... And consider that others are involved And my mental health issues come into play...

I need plenty of rest and alone time... I need plenty of socialising and other people time... And I need to be kept active and busy with other stuff... Routines are great! I've recently got a few into place for myself. And they doing me a world of good.

I get worked up about the tax of cigarettes! It's either... Smoke and go broke. Or withdraw and give up. But because it's such a big part of each day and I been smoking for so long. I really don't know how to live without it. Or what a life of no smoking will be like.

Eude.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Sounds great @eudemonism... I am the same, need larger groups as well as seclusion in sequences and I take it as the new normal 🙂

In my experience, any addiction can be a big spoiler.
I had a hard time quitting coffee and am much better after switching to tea. The thing with addiction is you realise how much it affects you only after you're off it.

But all the effort is worth it... you may consider professional help but this could be a BIG factor in all your struggles. You can't attribute everything to medicines 🙂
One step at a step rejoicing your wins at every step!

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect do you work? And how old are you? Relationship status? Kids?

I don't work. I'm 32. I've been single most of my life. And have no kids that I know about.

Yea I honestly think the entire mental health system is a load of rubbish.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

good morning @eudemonism

I logged on briefly to say hello and see how you are...also to catch up with a few other people on 2 other threads...

pleased to see that you have someone to connect with on here... @Friendconnect

Eude do your remember way back when we first started corresponding that you asked if I would help you to get back into a routine of getting up earlier....achieving small goals...daily...?

I want to make a suggestion to help with the monthly pattern of your struggle through the hardest days up to and including improvement and relief...

Eude, the feelings behind your words are sounding not as intense in your latest post...you are still struggling with symptoms from your injection.....they are starting to subside slightly? whilst they are overbearing for a period of time the effects start to taper off slowly...is this the case?

what can you do to benefit from this achievement?

if you could buy an exercise book from the supermarket...or cheap shop if one near you....

give it a title ...."side effects of monthly medication"...or whatever label you choose....try for something that will not make you angry every time you read it...

you will already have a date for your next injection...

  • in advance record date...day of the week of the next injection
  • on the actual day of injection record effects felt
  • every day record symptoms..
  • on worst couple of days use one word in your language that best describes your suffering
  • at the end of the month read back over your journal of side effects and take note of when things started to improve no matter how slight....
  • get a highlighter and highlight the first day of improvement and every following day that there is improvement...

keep this up and read back each month from when the effects started to taper....

the concept is to read what you achieve each month..this usually gets lost in the sheer agony that you endure..is important to recognise how hard you work to pick yourself back up each month...

I do know that you are doing this....remember I have read your progress...

this will help you train your mind to hear that:

  • you do make progress....
  • you are putting a self care plan in place...
  • you are helping yourself...
  • you are succeeding in moving out of the hardest struggles...

make a day before your next injection where you treat yourself to something small....something that works for you....go to the pictures.....buy an icecream...go to the beach....have this treat on your own...whatever you choose

write in your journal the date day of the week you have your treat and what your treat is....highlight this..write how you feel about yourself after this treat...be honest

each time you look at the journal you will not only see the pain and suffering...how hard you work to get through this...you will mainly read about:

  • your strength and resilience...
  • achievements...
  • rewards....

you will be on a journey of building your self esteem...learning to know more about Eude...who Eude is now

You have already stated that this is what you want to achieve .....small steps first

the main object of the journal is for you to write it down and start hearing those words over and over in your head that each month you get through the struggles no matter how hard...this is a huge achievement

you are a survivor ....have strength...believe that....hard yes I agree...keep on reading your journal and you will believe...

one final thing....if you mess up ...miss days....don't be hard on yourself..you are human..you have started to bring about change in you...

remember the focus is on how you get back up and what you achieve

I hope that this will be of some hope...I realise that you have probably had so many suggestions over the years...as have I....for me hearing something again..if it resonates I think that I will try that...it might work for me now....it is all about what works for us now...

don't forget to check out the other threads if you want to chat with friends whom you have made...

never give up on who you are Eude...you are a child of the universe and have every right to be here...you can break the cycle of the past and live in the now

@Former-Member

are you able to format this post properly for me so that it is easier for Eude to follow....I am not at my best at the moment and would very much appreciate some help...

It is very important for me to be able to help Eude in some way and for him to have something from me whilst there will be time away for me after my surgery...

thanking you in advance
