Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @eudemonism, I was trying to avoid getting into the spiritual aspects of things as these are usually not well understood/appreciated by many... and is more of a belief system since there can never be a scientifc evidence, but at the same time these can never be denied.

As far as I am concerned, I completely believe that there is more to this world than what meets the eye. However, its not a religion/customs we follow. I have recently read few religious books and I actually see same teachings everywhere( just explained in different forms). Well, one core aspect is that there is god/creator and each of us has been created for a particular purpose in this world. Now we have been built perfectly to fulfill that purpose and we'll be happy as long as we keep focussed on that. However, if we move away from that essence, we begin to suffer. The way to end the suffering is also to move back to your purpose. How to know what that is?

There's lot of literature/books and personality tests that can identify what sort of work/job is that we are likely made for and would enjoy and flourish doing. So, yes it'll be good practice to keep a check if we are on right path. There is an inner compass that can guide us but in order to access that we ned to work with practices that help us develop sync amongst our physical/mental/emotional/spiritual aspects. Because, one cannot function without the other. Some of this has been proved in science in terms of psychosomatic illnesses.

Its such a coincidence us talking about this at this point as I identified that my job of 15 years was not what I was really meant for, I am looking to starting something completely new. Its not easy seeing practical aspects of life, but its a relief that the way I suffered with the previous job won't be there. There are changes needed in life at different points, but fears keep us from following our heart because there is a defined format we are supposed to follow as defined by society. We need to look beyond that, and stay true to ourselves. You must have experienced sometimes when something just seems right... but we can't attribute any reason to it. That intuition or gut feeling is not meant to be neglected but explored. Thats the path to happiness for me.

I am glad that you brought up this point:)

Hi @Friendconnect Yes. I think I understand you. And get the ongoing gist of what you're saying.

Does what you're saying to me, have a place in your life?

I figure I want to stand for something. That works well for my health and happiness. And also gives me peace of mind, a sense of contentment, satisfaction, completion, a sense of meaning and purpose, fulfilment, a sense of at least some truth! (because there is a lot of truth out there! Right?) sorry about the exclamation marks. - that's when I am emotionally moved. - thoughts, ideas, beliefs, anything in the mind. It's all true for the individual experiencing them. And it does effect our physical life. Our feelings. Our words. Our actions. (as others effect us). Can you see how this could be used against someone? (even bye themselves?) Bye another? Or others?

Divide everything into two categories. Of fear and love. And add the equation. Of loving the fear. And fearing the love. And expecting validation of another or from oneself. For all things you fear and love. (being either true or false). Or deserved or undeserved). Going to be or not going to be). And everything that falls under these headings. then, subtype them into the mental and the physical. And add the tenses of past, present and future. And try to work out what your true motives are. While considering. All the outside Influences we are, have been or will be. Exposed too... (which effect the end result of what we want to stand for and be like) Whether bye choice. Or inevitable coincidence.

And then simply go with what works for you. And follow through with the actions. Eude.

@Friendconnect then add the mirror effect. Of yourself. Of what others think and do. And add it too them too.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Sorry @Friendconnect that was far to analytical. And far to psychological.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Yes @eudemonism - I think we started our discussions from two extremes but somehow found a common-ness.

There are lots of things and explainations that exist to make life appear complex. However, life is meant to be simple and enjoyable. You and me and everyone knows what they like and what they want as children, we just need to keep doing that into adolescent years upto adulthood till we reach end of the lifetime with a satisfaction that we did what felt right to me.

We regret only those things where we end up doing something that we didn't agree to but tried copying others. Life is about exploring what you truly want to do and what you want to be and everyone of us instinctively knows that. So, why look up to anyone to approve of our actions and so no resentment towards anyone as you'll know whatever you did is because that's best you knew. And you keep evolving into a more true version of yourself.

Your right what we see in others is actually what lies within us. That's how this discussion is helping both of us. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation 😊

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@eudemonism, I completely understand your viewpoint. You see how writing/discussion brings out new aspects of you gradually. You and me will never go back to what we were 2 days ago because we have learnt something new.

I am not sure about how you feel, I feel so much better. Thanks.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect I'm over this lifestyle I'm living. I'm up and down like a yo yo. There's no stability in a life on the injection.

I'm hearing what you're saying. Sounds perfectly right to me. But the thing is. I've had so much interference with my natural, instinctive and normal state of mind and psychical make up. (through pharmaceutical drugs) for a condition which was caused bye circumstances) And it's destroyed me, made me extremely resentful, bitter, twisted, annoyed, frustrated and angry.

I really don't know who I naturally am anymore. Eude. I've had so much blame toward everything and everyone I believe has contributed to this. - And it was all my fault. And left up to me too fix it.

I'm a walking list of side effects. Not a human being.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect I'm suffering on a daily basis. And I focus a lot of energy at whoever or whatever I believe is too blame. And try to fix it. But it don't work out well. If anything, I think it gives whatever it is. Or whoever it is. A real sense of power, strength and control over me.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @eudemonism, you've found all that is needed to start your journey to recovery.. you are so close and I can be more excited about it.

That lost touch with your natural self happens gradually you see and medication usually cannot help as they act only on physical body infact creating more distraction from our natural form and thoughts as all our focus shifts to the painful side effects. We are physical , mental, spiritual beings, so we need something that keeps all our aspects in sync.
I am not saying you don't need medicines at this point, buy what you've just told makes you a perfect candidate for some form of healing yoga, meditation, tai chi, or if you completely unable to take up any of these go for Reiki. Trust me, it's worth looking at these options. Yoga is not just movements or gymnastics to improved flexibility, it's a journey to your true self. Meditation is nothing but closing your eyes and visualising how you'll feel once you've reached where you want to be. Spend time forgetting your todays problems and just like day dreaming thinking how good you'll feel once you've reached your recovered stage. Don't bother HOW it'll happen. You become what you think, is actually true.
There might be many more ways that I am not aware, but the point is to be able to connect to your inner self everyday for few mins.

And try to think positive about everyone. Our anger punishes ourselves, no one else. So important to look with in. So for once it might help that because others are not being helpful , you may decide to ignore them and dedicate your life to improve your health. Don't be angry or hate them but don't allow them interfere in your life anymore. That's how anger will be gone, by defining your boundaries.

Also, no one will punish you for telling that the medicines are harming you so much. Atleast talk your heart out and tell your physician that you do want to try other options. Doing the same things will keep giving same results. You want to start doing things differently... Doesn't have to be humongous effort but the direction needs to be different.

Direct all your actions to loving yourself and minimise any negative thoughts towards others. It's hard to realise someone's pain except if you been through the same. Don't blame anyone, bcos what we are today is just because of our own decisions.others can only do as much wrong to us as much we allow.

Hope you'll consider these options and base your life on positive themes and actions. Make sure every action you do is for your well-being and not Against anyone. Even if someone did wrong to you, they have their karma coming back to them. You just have to avoid judgement and focus to building good karma because same will come back to you.
