Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Hello @eudemonism @Friendconnect

the symptoms of the injection are overwhelming at the moment are they? I know that you said they last for some time...

I cannot begin to imagine how that must feel like every month knowing that is going to be the case...

then you find such strength @eudemonism and I read of what you want to achieve...

those good times are in the background of your mind at the moment...overpowered by the strong effects of the medication.....the good times are still there...

if it helps and you are able keep on talking about how you are feeling during these struggling times...

I will read your words and listen to what you are feeling like at the moment of writing them..

did you manage to get outside yesterday?

I actually went for a walk...which has been a long time coming...pushed through the sciatic pain in my leg...I later went to the shops which I loathe...even though I hate being in there it always takes me far longer now...I have a list...trying to focus on where things are...used by dates...etc..

..leg ached far more when I laid down after dinner...had been on it for longer ...so will see what happens in next few days...

thinking of you

@Friendconnect

we haven't met yet ...have you found the introduce yourself here thread? there is another good one which is daily goals motivation skills..

worry room get it out and walk away...

there are some community guides about who will hopefully read this and give you some direction...quite confusing when first coming on these threads...

good luck

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @eudemonism,
I would suggest if you could give importance to your opinions more than what views others have. No one knows you better than yourself.

There are few situations where others may not be able to understand us and we start losing faith in ourselves. We forget that there is a person who can understand and help us just as we want ie., Ourselves.

Just look at the mirror and see why that person doesn't seem to help you - because you have stopped trusting him. You are capable of providing yourself everything you'll ever need.

It's almost like sitting at the back seat of your own car and just keep worrying if the destination will be of your liking. Check if you're doing the same to your life, you have ever right to take the drivers seat and decide a destination as you desire.

Why do others opinions matter to you so much, they generated them so leave those with them and move ahead with your life.

For once please live just for yourself, make yourself happy. Others are doing enough for themselves, so don't bother about tgem.
Own the choices you make as your right to live.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @Friendconnect

That is a very passionate response....

you are reaching out to encourage the principle of moving away from negative patterned thinking...

practising putting oneself first...starting with one's own opinion..not words or diagnoses or criticism from others in our past lives where we might have had hope for help...

That is something that I think is very hard to come to terms with....we are referred to all kinds of therapists at a time when we are struggling with our feelings or lack of feelings...life in general...

we gather the energy...motivation to meet these people with fear as our main driver.....

we have to work so hard to get past all of the demons who have become a part of us...

we have to learn to trust....very hard to do this when have been let down so many times..

I might have misunderstood you @Friendconnect ...I think that what the message you want to give to @eudemonism is always believe in yourself...trust your own feelings...be true to yourself...cast aside all those who have criticised..condemned...do not judge yourself on the opinions of others...as that is what they are ...merely opinions..

I hope that I have understood you correctly...

continue to express how you feel on here....supporting you

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Yes @Former-Member, you are right, more of feelings not opinions, though it's hard to identify one from the other at times.

Yes, it's something that I have dealt with, just feeling helpless and not being able to do anything about it. And then realising it's only me who can help myself as others are either too fearful or just busy with their lives. I am just thankful that this realisation came through in time. Was on medicines for 3 months and know that they are crap 🙂

I knows it's hard not easy, but I don't see any other solution other than self-empowerment.

Infact that's the reason I am here these forums now, not looking to solve my problems but trying to help if anyone else facing similar issues.

Thanks for your support.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @Friendconnect

your response reminded me of something else...certainly has happened to me on many occasions and I have read of other's experiences...

putting our feelings into words...changes the actual substance of the feeling ....the feelings of course being unique to each individual...who has their own unique thinking...their own unique experiences and on these threads their own unique symptoms of illness..

we can suggest and support...at the same time being mindful that some people are on very strong medication and have been on a very long journey with their illness and external circumstances....have fought many battles...yet are still here with us...to me that demonstrates loud and clearly...having great strength....courage and desire to keep on fighting...

talking about the hard days when it all gets too hard....for some day after day after day is all part of the journey...

I wish you a safe and rewarding journey on here....thank you for sharing

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Former-Member
I understand your point and know that not all problems have same solution.

I am not against medicines as such....
on the contrary, I just get thinking that if people who have been on long term medications... still are just on them for years - maybe changing dose or brand of medicines may not be the answer. May be there is something else that's required along with it(if not instead of it).

I am talking about prevention and cure... not just ongoing treatment you see.

Apologies if I was too blunt for anyone on this forum and would make sure not to post something too strong/specific in future.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @Friendconnect

I did not intend to make you feel guilty or need to apologise either for being to blunt...

this is what I was trying to convey...that it is so easy to feel strongly about something and wish to reach out and help and have our meaning of good intent misconstrued..

it happens to me constantly..

I have upset people with my passion to reach out..

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying and your line of thinking....

we are all on different pages aren't we..

please do not stop being yourself on my account...you must continue to post as you feel and think..

apologies

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect I distinctively remember telling my former support worker. I don't want to be involved with any of the other clients. Or religion. As I believed the other clients would bring me down. And religion would do what it does best. This was in the first stages of my days in the psychosocial rehabilitation programme. Which I was forced to be apart of. Because I was given a mental health housing unit. I asked in the form of wanting something. And expected that it should be respected. Considered and regarded highly. Due to it being my life. And myself being in charge of my life. And knowing I could do better if these wants of mine were adhered to. I was doing very well for myself. And I think it made some of the nurses Insecure and resentful. And in the space of a few words. My downfall had been prepared and concocted. Now I reflect back. I can see clearly. And I see that the entire psychosocial rehab programme. Is based around clients being involved with one another. And religion (Christianity) being the cure and the answer. And it's a messy and a nasty and a toxic scenario to be caught up in! Because it's gotten to the point where I have nothing else in my life. And of course. There is the mental health system fuelling everything in the background. Keeping files to taking sides. Doing what they're paid to. Waiting to pounce if someone becomes unwell. It's basically what my entire life is revolved around. And I'm really resentful about it!

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Former-Member,

I am just a few days old to this forum, however really liked the idea of having such sharing platform.

Not sure what intro is required - I am here with my mission to help people deal with depression or any kind of negative thinking. These are useless, self-debiliating invisible monsters and I want to eliminate them from this planet.

Looking forward to support with whatever I can and make some new friends on the way:-)
