Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Hello @eudemonism

are you having a particularly bad few days or have you recently had your injection and those weighed Dow symptoms are kickin in?

Today I am feeling overwhelmed and just want to crawl back into bed ..curl up like a baby and sleep for a long time..

I had to take more prn yesterday so am feeling very sluggish and sleepy..

I also know that if I gave into these thoughts I would feel worse when I got up..I would also not be able to sleep tonight..

so I talk to myself..yes

Listen to everything that is worrying me..then realise not going to change in next 24hours..not life threatening..so I will look at my goals and motivation list..

have you checked out that thread..started by @Teej who is lovely and will help you feel welcome if you would like to look around first..then make up your own mind..

By working through one day at a time..it helps me take control of what I can and cannot do...It does not overwhelm or overpower..it also decreases negativity and the harsh round and around feelings of nothing will change..

life does change..we don't always get what we ask for..so we look for joy in what we have.

you have had new beginnings since coming on this forum..

yoy have a new friend..moi...

you talk to others occasionally on other threads..

your garden is an ongoing interest for you....you have created spaces and growth in your garden..

your animals and set are getting to know each other..bonds forming..

can you write things Down when you feel so disheartened..release the thoughts..Keep in a safe place..

Write some music...poetry...fiction ...

take care

@Former-Member everyday is a challenge to be honest with you. I'm pretty much disabled bye my symptoms when I think about it and I'm not in denial. Not to mention what the medication does. I try to convince myself otherwise and think it's not true. But I'm just lying to myself. A little bit of labour, exercise or exertion and I'm feeling it that night and the day after. Even a small episode, manic phase or bout of symptoms and my whole body is feeling exhausted and fatigued. Eude. It's pretty bad hey? I'm still a young man. And I'm not good for very much lol.

Hello @eudemonism

symptoms of mental illness can so easily affect our motivation..

so very important to keep talking about it..

I find myself that some days I do little things at a time...

housework. I might dust and Hoover one day..

clean the bathrooms another day...etc etc

water pots. Weed.. Prune on different days..

then I lay down

and read or watch a film or series that I have recorded...

other days I listen to music..dance..go on cross trainer...

i take note of how tired I am..

Good to see you on goals and garden threads too..

I think that reading how others manage will help you too...

also nice for you to meet others on here and offer help too...makes us feel good..

as for fun..you made me laugh...can have fun...make our own fun at any age...you would have fun with mister..

take care

Yeah, I'm slowly wisening up too how it all works. The triggers. What I can do. What I can't do. And how to go about all of it.

I got my work cut out for me. That's for sure. I so much stuff to consider.

I'm feeling really depressed and unmotivated because of the medication. And it's making me super frustrated at the system for doing it too me. Any problems I'm having with medication. They just handball the text book answers back to me. And it's all problems I wouldn't be having if it wasn't for the meds. Plus. I'm starting to think that I'm unable to properly look after me dog.

@eudemonism

I am so sorry to hear that you feel that you are not being listened to re your symptoms and your medication..

I spoke to my psychiatrist who explained that there are different medications..

do you have a reliable gp?

if you don't relate to your current psychiatrist request a gp to find you someone else..

ring sane and ask them to give you some advise to find an advocate to assist you..you are entitled to help..

why do you feel that you can't look after your dog?

are you able to feed him once a day? Give him fresh water every day?

play with him or walk him every day? Good ways to get you out of house..give you motivation..exercise for your health..

alternative is I think that you will miss him very much..

only you can decide..make your decision when in better frame of mind.

make lists..one column good reasons to keep him..other column reasons for him to go to a shelter to be re-homed

@Former-Member

No I don't have a reliable gp. They all talk with the mental health system and read from my file. And are there for the money.

I can feed and water my dog everyday. But don't feel like walking him much due to the heavy medication side effects.
