Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

hello @eudemonism

I am aware that you had your session with psychiatrist today.....have you seen this one before or is the person new?

first appointment after a while or seeing a new one usually ends up in myself babbling away ....needing to get everything out at once....feeling some relief after...

I do hope that you relate well and feel that this person is going to help you...also that you trust and feel safe...

reply when you can...

I didnt go to card game today...too hot...and am still drained from yesterday gardening too much...

tomorrow and friday are going to be extremely hot so there goes walking...

I keep my cats inside when hot...how do you manage with mister and purr purr?

oh by the way my new avatar was the closest I could get to finding a vintage sepia photograph of twin sisters with dark brown hair and eyes...took hours..

thought time for a change...

speaking of such...how about yours...hate to say it does look a tad boring laugh...

I suppose it is hard if you are using a phone....best not to use our own photographs of self or pets etc..

I don't think I'm ever going to be very fond of psychiatrists. Simply because of how they go about dealing with what I'm presenting to them. Because in all honesty. I know exactly what's happening and going down. And I know what to do about it. And basically it all comes down to me. And when I'm dealing with a system that likes to write and jot down all the bad points about me on paper. I really quickly start thinking. Stuff this. I'm just giving the enemy ammunition to use against me. And than on top of that. It comes down to my opinion against theirs. Which effects 100% of my life. I predicted what would happen yesterday. They don't know how to deal with normal people and normal problems. They like dealing with people who are

Sorry if I’m intruding @Former-Member and @eudemonism but if I may?
It annoys me also when health professionals seem more intent on writing down than listening.
I have a way of hinting at my displeasure by spelling slowly the last few words I said....😬

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @eudemonism

it is hard having a session with a psychiatrist and watching them make notes some of the time...

I do not particularly like that either...in fact the first time I saw the psychiatrist I now see...I actually asked him what exactly was he writing and why...he did say that he was making brief notes to help him in further sessions...also helps him keep a measure or yardstick to go by on how I am travelling further down the line...hope that makes sense...

the very most important thing from my point of view in seeing any type of counsellor or therapist is

do you think that there is a chance you might be able to trust that person.....are you willing to give them a chance...tell them as much as you need to in the early sessions...whilst you are working things out...

if you can try to have another session unless you feel strongly that you do not connect with that person..

the benefit is for you not them....you get to talk to someone who is qualified not just a social worker or counsellor and no offence intended for anyone with those professions....they just are not qualified medically..therefore cannot diagnose or even discuss medications..

I know that you have plans and you feel that things have been going around and around in circles,...this is why I feel that you need to see someone separate from where your supported accommodation is..

alternative go back to gp and ask for referral to someone else...you will eventually find someone who will be of great help to you..

is it hot where you are? it is too hot for me here...I always feel unwell in heat...I like lower 30's but that is it...

take care

Re: Coming to terms with reality

yes @Catcakes

I agree wholeheartedly if they spend more time with their head down making notes than observing...not a good fit for me in the least..

I am quite sure that @eudemonism wont mind me saying that you are more than welcome to join in on the conversation...

good for eudemonism not to just have to listen to my posts ...have other's input too....and give you a helping hand too..

you made me laugh with your hinting strategy...

I have used in company of acquaintances...the ones who do all the talking and have the loudest voices...I become silent until they actually look at me and realise that I am alive and breathing not just an object to be talked at...

@Former-Member & @Catcakes & @Former-Member (if you want to join in...

They ain't allowing themselves to be responsible for everything negative that the medication does to me. Based upon my word and my personal experiences. It's just excuse after excuse. And solutions that solely fall back on me. And suggestions of more mess. And then when I'm putting my case forward. They are referring to when I was unwell and things that happened during those times. Should I do that with their system as a whole picture? To make it fair? Can I know I can!

Re: Coming to terms with reality

In all honesty there was no emotional intelligence or consideration and referral to everything I've already done to help myself. am doing and will be doing . and no consideration about everything I've been processing and dealing with and moving on from. Regarding everything that my life and my illness revolves around. My real life and perfectly normal problems. It seemed to me like it was. Build a quick profile of the illness and the symptoms. And refer to medication. No referral to natural. Medicinal. Spiritual. Healing practises. Or referring to logical, practical and rational thinking patterns and neutral thoughts. And focusing on my hobbies. And things I enjoy. And things that relax me. And things that give me a sense of purpose and meaning. And things that help my physically. And relationships I'm relying on. I expected better. I expected more. And I was severely disappointed. What have they been doing with all these notes they are keeping on me? What do they actually get paid to do?

When I was writing that. I was full of pent up energy. And I just read through what I wrote. And it came out alright. Apart from a few mistakes. It's given me a lot to process. *meds not mess *cause not can
