Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Hello again @Former-Member

I'm also active on social media sites. I put quite a bit of stuff on my page. But get very little response. Not that it bothers me.

I was looking through my photos and thinking. This guy looks quite normal. And I seen photos of the kittens I took to the shelter. I than linked it in with. My 20 days of smoking. So I'm now In a grief and regret frame of mind and thinking that I messed up. Very disappointed with myself really. Because I did have the thought about keeping them both and doing the cat man thing. Super annoyed with myself now I can see what was happening.

Now that I think about it @Former-Member

My mum... I sought counsel from her about those two kittens. And she either didn't link them with my giving up smoking. Or she came between me and a good thing because of Insecurities and resentment. Which she'd never admit too. And which leaves me high and dry. Also my parents took off for a three week holiday when I gave up. This was the separation from years of torment motivation.

@eudemonism

You did your best for the kittens..you took them to a shelter..where they still have a chance of finding homes..

you already have a dog and cat to look after...

animals are costly. Vet bills. ..food..

you had purrpurr dsexsed..

you are a responsible pet owner.. You have no reason for guilt re kittens..

perhaps there is some confusion in your thoughts re your mum and past incidents..

it is hard to do.. Focussing on just each day can help life feel more bearable..

this is what I am doing now..

Must sleep am very weary..

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hello @eudemonism

this time of year is so very difficult for many people..

especially those of us who have mental illness symptoms...add into that family or friend issues...

grieving for loss...

that is a tremendous load for anyone to carry..

so for now it is most important for us to be kind to ourselves...let go of some of our expectations...pressures that we put on ourselves ...

this is supposed to be holiday time..

so let us give our minds some time off..no deep thinking...be happy with where we are..what we have...not materialism....basics...nature..animals...

time to replenish our energy as animals do...as nature does..

this is all about resting for the year ahead...

what will you put in place to rest and replenish your energy...rest your mind..leave the patterned thinking aside for now?

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Thanks @Former-Member

I'm not sure what's going on anymore. I'm not even sure what's wrong anymore. Just really tired of dealing with how I'm feeling. And not being able to do anything about it. Makes it tens time worse.

I'm feeling adrift In the sea of abyss.

It's new years eve and I got asked if I wanted to go for a drive but said no. For personal reasons.

I've lost Interest in alcohol and drugs and have turned myself against coffee and cigarettes. Because they just not helping and are actually causing me big problems. They been such a big part of my life for so long and I basically don't know how to live without them.

Feelings of depression and anxiety at the moment. Feelings of having nothing to do. Feelings of having no enjoyment In life. Feelings of being overwhelmed. Feelings of not being able to do anything about it.

Hmm

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hello @eudemonism

Thank you for taking the time to respond to me despite the fact that you are feeling so low and out of sorts...

I Can sense that you are feeling very flat..

emotional upheaval at any time let alone this time of year depletes so much of our energy..

I too have felt worse each day...all of the build up before Christmas ..the day itself..Boxing Day..now New Year's Eve...today I feel as though I have been hit by a bus and then run over by a steam roller...

allI want to do is get away from myself...so hard..impossible to explain to someone who has not experienced symptoms of any mental illness..

you have mentioned stopping cigarettes, coffee, alcohol and drugs before...which is fantastic that you still want to stop...I think that you are now aware that they are only short term fixes...band aids that in turn cause further harm..pain..

you have been doing a lot of soul searching and now have greater insight into how your mind works..

drugs, alcohol, nicotine even caffeine are all addictive substances...some toxic...it takes several weeks for your body to start ridding itself of some of these toxins...rehabilitation is the more popular term..

so yes your head and body are going to feel strange..for a few weeks..a visit to go is important as this might have an effect on the medication you have..very important...blood pressure..even some blood tests..a thorough check up..book a double appointment

healthy food, exercise ,walking playing with your dog no matter how brief to begin with will all help..

yes we have heard it all before..

so distraction might be the key for you to help you through this period...

avoid those in your life who are not supportive re your healthier lifestyle..

perhaps try some writing or art...

if there are case workers or social workers, psychiatrists who are not helping ..let them know that you are making this huge effort for change..

this period is difficult ...you want this now...you want to improve your life...so day by day you will work hard to do that..

keep on talking..venting..releasing..

try living in the day..in the now..that is what keeps me going..

I am here to listen..

there are quite a few others struggling at the moment..if you feel up to it read some of there posts..plus responses they receive..

New Years eve is just another night another Sunday ..

speak soon

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hi @Former-Member

Mister and his injury are getting better. And I'm paying the vet bill off slowly. It was an unwanted and unneeded experience to say the least.

Bye the time I've gotten out of bed, woken up, and done a few things. I'm ready for an afternoon nap and am getting ready for bed again. There is not much fun and enjoyment in each day to be honest with you. No energy, no motivation, no vitality. Each day just fades into another morning where the cycle starts again.

Things have slowly but surely been changing as the weeks, months and years pass me bye. I'm losing crucial habits which I had in place to keep me well and healthy. It's very disheartening. And the stuff that is going on is very simple and basic stuff which has a diplomatic and political side to it. And is very stressful to deal with.
