Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

@A2Z I love your explanation of prayer. It is practical and devoid of dogmatic piety.

@Vanessa5 That is more the idea I mean when mentioning mysticism; a deep and prolonged prayer life and contemplation. I have not "dabbled" though. I also practise a lot of social outreach in various ways.

I found some reading about exceptional people, including mystics of various faith traditions, helpful.

I did not feel so alone learning about their experiences.

@eudemonism I know you cant change my past of life history, but it was lovely to read that it meant enough for you to reply that way. The main thing that keeps me going is trying to effect change in rigid systems so that others do not suffer as much. In that I include the church as well as MH system.

Change is happening. I hope you all have a good week.

I take photos of stuff when im out and about. And its a hobby and ive seen a few tv shows about backyard photographers that have made a name for themselves through photography. Its a seed i planted within myself long ago and its all turned into a reality. Plus, with social media and phone technology these days. Its very easy to take and share photos. But witha population of 7 billion on earth i dare say its a very common objective many people have. And i suppose is very vein and egotistical now i think about it. But becsuse of my situation it fitted my abilities and allowed me to work within my capabilities and lifestyle. I suppose you could say the world is being overdosed with photos. And im a single guy. An outcast of the family (resented ) nobody really worried about me and what im doing unless it serves a purpose for themselves. And my hobbies of writing, music, art, photography, and all the side avenues of these things is probably a very competitive game. I thought it might suite my mental health issues and troubled mind...

I genuinely care about all the people in my life. I believe all people deserve what they need, too have peace of mind and meaning and purpose in their lives. And sometimes all i can do. Is be with them mentally, emotionally and spiritually. With me, its a case of connecting and reaching out too people through my problems and my sufferings. And if its not that. Its like im wearinga mask. So i suppose i seek the counselling and consoling side to everyone rather then anything else. But when the tables have turned. I become a bit lost for words. And without this scenario happening i feel lost, out of place. And besides myself with nobody to care.

I hope you havea good day

Good morning @eudemonism. I see you are in good spirit this morning and am so glad...cuz when you are not i am always speachless...cant find the right words to soothe u since nobody ever soothe me either except my therapist...so, am lacking much in there. Seeing her this Thursday after 2 months break.

Its good to hear you are making progress with your list and home interior rearrangement. Knowing you regularly visit your parents despite feeling yourself an outcast is heartwarming. Way to go bro.

Wanna be a silent reader for a while and use the time for self introspection. Found this article that describes lots of things that i need to look into...http://presidelife.com/how-self-negativity-gets-inflicted-2/

@A2Z..thanks for the highlights. You have an explicit way of describing them which is nice to hear. Perhaps this limitation for me to express my views clearly comes from the fact that i am not Caucasian and English is not my native language. I wondered that prayer before sunrise is one of the 5x/24 hrs prayer that u do.

@Former-Member..thanks for being so supportive to everyone despite your own issues. I am short of words to express my gratitude. Having u check on me yesterday is a rare occasion that touched my heart. Hope you continue being nice and kind and motherly to all of us in here like you are to you husband's son and daughter. You are lucky they accept you but things had been different in the polygamy marriage i went through.

Have a nice day y'all..

@eudemonism

even if there are a million people in the world taking photographs that does not affect your own level of achievement

sounds as though you have a strong creative, artistic side....put that into play with your photographs...play with your work....then look at where you might take it

I am a strong believer of those who are very successful got there not just because of their talents but because they believed in themselves.....they pushed themselves

I need to take notice of my own thoughts laugh...I want to do more charcoal sketching

@eudemonism

I went back and read this again...

I am not quite sure I understand the last part

do you mean that when you opened up to someone about your symptoms of mental illness, they rebuked you?

I tell very few people about mine....Apart from my immediate family, my husband's family do not know, a handful of people know a little bit....as in just a couple of friends over many years

This way I dont have to deal with questioning in my mind about how they relate to me.

If you choose to talk about your interests, your pet, your family, your walks others will have something that they are able to respond to. do you discuss these things with them?

If I am totally off track just tell me so.
