Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea @Zoe7 these two guys came into my life via a mental illness support group/support programme. And I'm just realising how bad they've been for my health and well-being... one of them used to persistently and obsessively come around to my place at all hours of the morning, and it created this really toxic codependent relationship thing, where I'd wake up early, and then expect him to be there in the morning. It ended up driving me around the bend. I'm only just getting out of that routine... because he is now in the city, and another guy has taken his place, whom i became friends with through the first guy... so basically, if I'm expecting someone at an unreasonable hour of the morning, it makes me get up early and stay up early... essentially throwing my whole day out of wack... i now realise it's wrong of them to do this-because it really achieves nothing at all, apart from them not having to deal with their problems on their own at all hours of the morning...

How is everyone doing today???

I'm loving not having as much anxiety and stimuli to deal with now I've kicked the coffee habit. I'm loving not having to deal with the highs and lows associated with alcohol use. Just gotta work on my cigarette habit now...

@eudemonism Hi Eude 😄 congrats on ditching the alcohol and coffee. I must say I had 2 glasses of wine on the weekend and they knocked me for six won't be doing that again for another 2 years lol. I haven't smoked since my twenties so it is coming up for 30 years now. I don't miss them or the expense.

Is it raining where you are? It is pouring here which is super nice 🙂 I am just chilling doing my exercises trying to stay healthy for myself and my kids.

We can become involved in those relationships which are toxic for many reasons @eudemonism but it is very positive that you recognise the effects and know you have to do something to reduce the stress on you.

It is great that you are feeling better without coffee and alcohol - smoking is a big one to kick Eude - goodluck with that too.

Hi @Bunniekins you made me giggle with your 2 drinks - I think that amount would have me asleep in no time lol

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Bunniekins it's been overcast for a few days here, not much rain, the sun is finally shining....... southeast sa where are you?
I'm trying to become more independent and not as impulsive and socially needy... Plus, think I'll be doing myself a huge favor to start saying no to people who are asking me for stuff or expecting me to be there for them. Alcohol and coffee are heavily involved with the social culture...
Yea greenpea alcohol is a heavy duty substance. Same as coffee. I'm feeling quite good about not using them. Feeling less stimulated and anxious about everything in general... less impulsive, less needy...
What helped when you kicked the ciggies? Was it slow and gradual or suddenly?*

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Yea @Zoe7 i think under the right circumstances... pushing people away and laying down boundaries is actually a good sign... I'm caught between, being well, independent; motivated; confident, not needing validation and the opposite of unwell, codependent, lazy, no confidence, and needing validation.
I mean relationships are important... but there's just as many toxic relationships to be had, as healthy relationships... so I'm partly afraid to cut all my ties and burn all my bridges... in case i become unwell again...

How are you today anyway?
What have you been doing?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@eudemonism Hi Eude. I live on the east of NSW. I gave up cold turkey just like that because I was sick of being sick all the time. I was getting chest pains and I was in my 20s!!! I had tried before but wasn/t serious about it .... it wasn't until the chest pains started that I really thought OMG enough of this sh@it! it is too expensive even then and makes you sick why am I doing this.
