Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

You need to weigh up both the positives and negatives of such relationships @eudemonism and if you can deal with the negatives as well as the positives then continuing that relationship is ok - if the negatives far outweigh the positives then it is maybe time to re-asses the relationship. Could you ask this friend to not come around so early - put some boundaries in place - they may not understand that you need some time to yourself in the morning and may be ok with that boundary. If they are not ok with it then tht is another negative to add to your list.

I am ok today - pretty tired this afternoon so chillin' on the couch with Toby next to me. I have had DBT and psych appointment today and that usually wears me out quite a bit. The weather is not nice here either - cold, windy and raining on and off. I did manage to get to Bunnings though on the way home and got the potting mix I needed ...and bought one more plant for my favourite corner in the garden.

What have you been up to today?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Bunniekins yea I'm hearing you... the financial burden ain't worth it, the health problems ain't worth it, and the actual effects of the chemicals make life much more difficult... Plus it's a bad culture to be caught up in...
How did you go with ex the other day and discussing daughters needs???

What's dbt? And what happens at psych app? You don't have to answer if it's to intrusive.
I've had a visitor who wanted a few smokes. I've parked by the sea with Misty, had a phone call with someone and just chilled for awhile. And then got filling replaced by dentist. Now going to have afternoon rest. @Zoe7 sorry i forgot to tag you in this post i wrote earlier.

@eudemonism went really well with ex, he is a great guy. Re: daughter. we are both on the same page now we have to implement some strategies to help her help herself. Easier said than done. She might be coming home from hospital tomorrow depending on what the pdoc says so will see how she is when she is at home.

Oh right. I'm not completely up to date with your family dynamics. Daughters. A son. An ex. Diagnoses. @Bunniekins ?

I've just read some stuff about smoking, schizophrenia category illnesses, severe mental illness and nicotine replacement therapies. Apparently the rate of schizophrenics and people who suffer from severe mental illness that try to quit smoking is really low. And apparently nicotine replacement therapy can lead to worsening of symptoms of the illness. Not good news for myself really. The researchers are have linked activity in the cortex (apart 9f the brain) to extra smoking and problems quitting. And they're trying to work out if the extra activity in the cortex is caused by the illness or the psychiatric drugs. From my experience its the psychiatric drugs that make me smoke more.
