Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Hey @eudemonism

I hear you loud and clear. The company we keep indicates our ability or inability to cope.

I remember when I was young I'd go on a diet as you did in the 70's, and my mum would have cream buns for morning tea. (Shaking head) What do you do?

It took me decades to realise she had the problem and it wasn't me. It's like learning to say "No!" to people. That takes guts and determination, especially when it's someone you risk losing. Is there life after "No"? Yeah...

Take care;

Hope

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Sounds familiar from my past attempts at relationships re ‘other guy’ With one Id wake to be told we were giving up smoking Im like .. what? .. and yes alcohol was a retreat/pastime sometimes seemingly accepted when it suited them even if they were on illegal stuff and me footing the bill. It’s about choices. Re people. And turning alarm bells off at start . Then after co dependence/connection created and one feel secure enough and changes .. well, nothing.. and its all All justified and or a secret then ‘other’ is set upon being told to change and anything they have contributed counts for nothing re being cut any slack. Probably more about the person who’s pulling strings past relationships and their own struggles ok and choices re ‘oh, not another one’ .. just saying .. well as they used to say.. sometimes damage is best not shared re misery loving company. Ok this is in a few years past. Just my observations from experiencing similar sounding situations

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Sophia1 thanks for replying. I've also been thinking about you and wondering how you're going. Enjoy it for what it is i suppose. Not for what you want it to be. Things will get better you have your partner there so at least you're not alone.

With myself it's a constant jounrey. Time stops for no man. As my dad told me as a child. It's a constant battle with my addictions. Some days are good and some days are not. However i feel I'm always gaining ground.

I think a big part of my problems are accepting myself and life for what they really are. And not looking for the quick fix escape which leads to bigger problems. And i gotta always look toward that next step in achieving my goals and doing what needs to be done in the moment

I'm sorry to hear about your family member. It must be incredibly difficult to deal with. Especially while you're in transition from place to place. I don't know your family member or the full details so I'm not wanting to say to much.

Plus with myself. As you mentioned. Being around people who just want to live in their illness and their problems is probably not all that helpful. It's kind of like partners in illness and addictions and problems. But what do you do about it?

Eude

Keep being strong Sophia xx

@TAB i think I'm in need of rehab from the legal drugs. Not the illegal drugs. Bit of a contradiction don't you reckon?

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@TAB if you can't beat them join em??? Re alcohol... And yes. No good about back pain or any pain. I'm lucky and i only need headache tablets from time to time. But mind you. I do have two old injuries that give me severe ouchies from time to time. Just these two injuries alone disable me. Let alone problems of the mind. It's arthritis in elbow from old double broken and displaced forearm bones. Was pre bad. And my broken bone in my foot. When they play up they cripple me.
