Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

@eudemonism

That is very good news....

You also understand that the doctor will monitor any changes..side effects...always good to be prepared for what short term side effects might occur and also any adverse reaction...

This is a new opportunity for you to grow to like the person whom you are all the more..

Getting out and about is very beneficial for our wellbeing..

Today I am going back to bed though...virus has taken hold....

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

Hello @eudemonism

I am responding to several pieces of writing that you have written over yesterday and today on different threads....

living with ourselves....worry room...

You have brought relevant information to the forefront of your mind and written your story ....sharing such fragile memories...

Again I want to say to you that I am so very sorry and feel for you in losing a loved one at such young ages for both of you.

I deal with loss of my "family member" as best I can....noticing my emotions ...acknowledging them...trying so very hard to not blame myself as they arise....this is human nature....at a stage where we are still grieving...a part of our mind tricks us into thinking well it must be our fault then because the feelings are still there...

When not in this state of mind we know only too well that it is not our fault...it is our negative past programmed thinking trying to control us....

So I want to share with you that when I feel so very held down with grief and despair re my missing "family member"...I now tell myself that I am allowed to feel the intensity of the sorrow....I am allowed to think of him....I am allowed to remember the beautiful person who is still there....Of course my heart breaks and the emotions overwhelm...the tears flow non stop...my throat feels constricted....Iallow these feelings to come...then I tell myself...enough for now....I am human...no human being can deal with all of the hurt and pain at any one time....

Your brother would be so proud of you Eude...despite everything that you are struggling with...you are able to write about him...mention him....so many with grief cannot bring themselves to do this....

This is all part of your grieving and your journey honouring your brother...

This next section is in response to your questioning changing medication...trusting again

We have been discussing this on the other thread about your wanting to take more control of your life...

having an upcoming appointment with your new psychiatrist....

letting this psychiatrist know how much your life has been impacted by the depot injection

the desire that you have to follow through with your interests and build a better quality of life...

changing to a different style of medication prescribed by this new psychiatrist is the starting point of all of the trials that will lead you to begin another part of your journey...it might take trying different ones to get there...none of us know until we try

learning to like and trust...understand and feel listened to...heard...accepted by this new psychiatrist will be all part of this new journey that you Eude are undertaking..

For any of us to acknowledge to ourselves that we need to start medication for the first time...again....increase...change.....whatever is hard to come to terms with...we all want to be at this place where happiness abounds and our life has improved tenfold....

so we are extremely hard on ourselves as we try to slip into the latest image of what society...social media has exploded all over its platform..

whatever the latest buzz is...the world has become so much more excluding .....

For those of us prone to mind struggles we can find ourselves slipping without knowing...not even realising that we are still despite the fact we know how ridiculous the concept is...comparing ourselves to others...

Why???

mass marketing....

Look at the governments around the world....the united nations...do they even exist still?

With this all going on around us we feel that we have failed ourselves again...asking for help...needing medication ....

I admit wholeheartedly that I am the hardest critic of myself...have been my whole life...

I have learnt though when I need to take prn...too much being thrown at me in external world....when I need hospital...in deepest darkest despair unable to think clearly...make decisions for self..

I hope that this is not too intense..

I want to stress that reaching out for help with the right medical people (yes @eudemonism there are some who are not right for each of us...we have to try to find the right one...not give up because others have failed us...not give up on ourselves)

You have got yourself to this very day where this is what you want...

Your negative patterned thinking will try to drag you back to question this bravery...this strength of character...commitment to change.....

You know this....you have been through this period before..

You are still safe....at this time of total confusion....you have your back up plans in place...including writing on the different threads where you feel most comfortable....at the same time where you are able to offer so much to others...

your caring responses to me of late have been so timely....I hope that you understand how much you have supported me...

So wherever you are at today...if too overwhelming...make the phone call....talk to someone who will listen....

we are here to support you on this new journey that you are undertaking...

I hope that makes sense..

please let me know if I am off track or have confused you..

that is what friends do..be there when the times are tougher...

take care as always

Sophia

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Sophia1 Thanks for that message 😢 it was very heartfelt 💓

Yea my brother was very important to me. He was a very special person in my life. Whom I had great trust and respect for. I looked up to him as a brother, a friend and mentor. And loosing him honestly broke my heart. And caused me huge mental and emotional problems during the grieving process. (and still it's ongoing) I still mourn the loss of him until this day. I mourn his life. I mourn what his life could of been. And I feel robbed of a life where I had an older brother, mentor and friend who was there to look out for me, watch over me and guide me. Among many other things.

Now I'm left with a life that is just not the same had not the tragic loss of my brother occurred. I'm left feeling very damaged. And without a crucial relationship which my wellbeing depended on. (it's normal to depend pm people for our needs an wellbeing?)

The grieving cycle was absolutely horrible to go through. I was grieving the relationship with someone who meant so much, helped so much and did so much for my life. Physically, intellectually, emotionally and spiritually. Eude.

Hello @eudemonism

You have so much more strength than you realise Eude...

You have been able to write ...using your own word....an extremely heartfelt response....sharing the deep love and strong bond that you have with your brother..

I can tell you that the love and bond are still with you....that will probably come across as shallow and unkind..

when living with such unimaginable loss ....words do not do justice....

I know that you find support in religion....Do you ever go to church where you feel safe enough to ask for the priest...vicar....minister to say a prayer with you whilst you light a candle in honour of the love you have for your brother?

The prayer can be spoken out loud ....by yourself only...or together...even in silence....

a candle and special time for yourself and your brother to honour the love you shared...

I did this when I went to UK last year...I went into the local parish where we used to live.......there was a special stand with tea candles available to light....a small area to the side of the church with a few pews for those who wanted to stay awhile..

I lit three candles...one for my lost aunt...one for my aging mother....one for my "family member"...I spoke out loud ...my voice is soft...nobody came...I cried and spoke some more....I stayed like this for some time....

I felt a connection in doing that...spiritually....

at the same time I felt as though somebody was in the background within the other chambers of the beautiful old church...

be very gentle with yourself at this time Eude....these are very tender feelings that you are experiencing...

always remember the helplines...24 hours a day....I have been told I can ring as often as I want....One day I rang 3 times...instead of taking prn....

It does not take the pain away...it just gives some time away from it...which does help...

a huge long hug for you Eude...I am holding onto you...

keep in touch

your friend

Sophia

Re: Sharing the wisdom within

@Sophia1 Yea I've been to church and said some prayers and stuff. I'll take note of what you said though. Because my brothers influence upon my life was very important and very essential to my overall well being. And when it was taken. Life literally fell apart. So yea I'll put some quiet meditation time into thinking about my brother, my relationship with him and what he would of wanted.

Everything I had been working toward in my life before his death seemed irrelevant. It all become worthless. It was literally shattered into little irreparable pieces. Life changed forever.

Thanks @Sophia1 - Eude

Hi all & whoever I forgot to tag...

I need to do something about the ordeal I'm faced with on a daily basis. I'm waking up and I'm knowing what I need and want to get on with. It's all above board. And classified as a good for my mental, physical, emotional & spiritual health. All positive an life giving...

I'm having the right thoughts & ideas. My nature & motives are usually good and righteous.

Th counsellor said life revolves around. Our needs. Shelter. Food. Community. Sex. Drugs. (whatever else...) . It's what motives my subconscious mind.

Yea I'm putting thoughts and ideas off. I'm hesitating, procrastinating, avoiding & thinking about the potential negatives. Thoughts like going to visit people. Going for a walk. Cleaning. Trying to connect with a lady. Getting stuff done. Going fishing. Trying to sort out the problems I'm faced with. Achieving goals. (ideally it would stuff like go to work, build career, build life, support my own needs, support wife and family, do things I enjoy with life) but it always reverts into distracting myself and doing a tedious and menial task around the house. And often results in more thought - which results in more thought - which result in coming up with more thoughts - an then writing about the thoughts (which is psychologically based around initial goal I wished to achieve) has hidden meaning) - and getting a laugh out of it tehehehe - then crashing... rather frustrating anyway...

And yea... I think fear, doubt, Insecurities, uncertainty, unknowns, low self esteem, low confidence, damaged ego, negative thinking patterns, medication side effects, traumas, analyzing potential problems (old thinking patterns) & problems in way of achieving goal - stop me in my tracks. And It all becomes to hard....

Bye this stage I'm fully suffering...
And finding out who's fault it is...
And finding out who's to blame...
And looking for who can help me solve the problem...

But yea! It's not good... Eude lol
