Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

I think I'm going to do some research on mood disorders. As I said to myself this morning. 'I have a mood disorder' my mood is always fluctuating, no two days are the same, when it's bad it's good and when it's good... It's bad... Slowly making progress either way... I'm very much effected bye so many factors...

I've maintained the same friendships / relationships for a few years now. Family relationships / my attitude toward family has been consistent, stable and good. Don't feel insecure about anything... Relationships are very important and I'm focusing on this statement. 'we all have the right to be respected... And we all have the responsibility to respect' it's for myself as much as it is for others.

It's good to hear from you. I hope all is well for you and the people in your life. You're a good person. You're a great support and have helped out heaps. Thank you.

I'm always learning about myself. And about my disorder. I'm learning about the values of good relationships. It's really amazing stuff.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Glad you have some good times @eudemonism

That was a turning point for me. To realise I could still have positive feelings and then learn, to remind myself of it and talk about it with others, and the positive in my life kept growing.

Depot meds can be a difficult cycle. As you seem fairly stable is it worth looking for a doctor who might help you back on oral meds, a very slow reduction and give therapy? I mean slow over years, but there are people out there who believe that its possible to reduce responsibly.

Hope dog is good too.

Hi. I'm realising and acknowledging that I suffer from a very severe mood disorder. I like to think I am managing it to the best of my ability. And that it's not effecting my life or anybody else in a negative way. I like putting my thoughts into words and have used writing as a coping mechanism for a fair while now. And I believe that the emotions of my extreme highs and extreme lows are tied up in my words.

I think, sometimes I need validation... To be held, to be hugged, to be loved and to be told... It's all OK, it's all normal, you're not doing nothing wrong, the world understands - too feel accepted as I am... And yes, I've tried to publicize, promote and sell my story...

Does that sort of make sense? Does it sound normal?

@Sophia1 have a read and let my know your opinion...

Re: Comi ng to terms with reality

Hello @eudemonism

You are stretching out your thinking so much and expressing your inner feelings into words so well..

Many do not understand this concept....the reason I bring this up is because for so long I have thought that it was myself who did not fit in.....

I could not have been further from the truth...yes I thought that I was different...I now know that I am different to others ...everyone is....as we are all unique...

therefore measuring our worth against others is worthless...

Needing validation and recognising that is so precious for you as a person....talking about this is also another sign of such strength...

Every human being needs validation at some time in their life whether they admit to that or are aware of it or not...

The desire to be held, to be hugged, to be loved is an innate part of being a human being...

Yes it is ok ....yes yes yes....you are being yourself...true to yourself....

Normal is a word that is useless...I have removed it from my vocabulary...

other's might not agree with my response...no matter...these are my thoughts for you...

take care Eude

Re sharing the wisdom within

@Sophia1

Yes I'm recognizing the importance of these things we are talking about in my day to day life.

I feel I've got a grip on everything that's going on in my life and in my mind. And Definitely feeling I'm making progress on a daily basis.

I'm hoping things keep going well. I'm hoping to achieve some goals in the coming months. I'm hoping things stay stable.

Yes... Just clicked... . I'm aware of what you meant about reducing depot injection amount slowly and beginning oral medicine...

Can you explain it again?..

Thanks Eude

lol ... @eudemonism

I just meant they had no dog emoticons only cat ones.. which suits me fine, lol .. but might irk some!

I love @Sophia1 responses to you.

The "normal" word has been a bit of a joke for me. I have gone through different phases about how I use it. For the first 30 years of my life, I was overwhelmed by all the Dx in my family, and shrunk in myself when confronted with normal attitudes and assumptions, but as I age, I am more critical of the whole concept of normal.

Yes most people in their deepest heart want and need and crave affection, though there are also often defences around feelings.

I was just wondering if you had considered a slight reduction in meds as they were a big part of your distress in your earlier posts.

I wondered if you were getting proper therapuetic forumulations from your doctors. or an injection only. I dont mean to pry or cause any instability, but all my MH team seem to work to med reduction within reasonable limits. I wondered if that was a possiblity for you?

Sorry if it is too forward.

I have to go and dish up.

Roasting my first duck tonight!

Pleased to hear @eudemonism

that you are recognising all of your hard work within your day to day thinking...

writing about that very fact on here is also a form of approving of yourself which is such a huge step forward for any of us with mind struggles....

Even though there will still be days where this thinking seems to disappear...become forgotten...

you will recall later and continue on your journey ...

@Appleblossom must have made an inhouse joke again...have not got a clue about dog and cat emoticons...

the subject of how effective your medical team are ...perhaps thinking about discussing medication reduction has come up with us several times before I know....worthwhile still having it there in the background of your mind as perhaps part of your journey at some stage....

@Appleblossom @eudemonism nice to have an extra person on the thread putting forward their opinions too....

take care
