Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @eudemonism

Thank you for your response...

Most of all thank you for respecting that I truly want to be here for you and help....

The loss of a brother at such a young, tender age would have led to insurmountable feelings....

I sincerely am sorry for so great a loss .....I do not want to trample all over such pain..

I like the way that you follow the tides, the sun, the moon, the weather.....the seasons....all part of nature ...all affecting our environmnent...following on by affecting us....a great theory to follow Eude...

Yet another example of your intelligence...your ability to question and find varying solutions...

Your last phrase "I just shouldn't judge it critically on my expectations and ideals" tells me that you have already started to think about letting go of your negative past thinking...whilst at the same time acknowledging those experiences and feelings are real...

you are starting to allow yourself to believe in who you really are ...accepting your qualities ....gifts and talents..

this is by no means an easy process....holding on to the fact that you are worth the effort can help you to wake up everyday and work on pushing through that heavy feeling gently...some days accepting .....having a day off from self is just as important..this I believe you know and are doing already...

I am very proud of you Eude....I don't say this lightly....you have and continue to show great strength of character..

I like reading your story too.

I need you too. You're mind is important. I learn from you to understand my son better, how he struggles, how he keeps motivated to get out of bed in the morning.

It sounds it's all about routine right? He hasn't got it right yet. He is still in hospital, bored out of his brain. He talks lot about what is in his head and I try to support him the best I can. His biggest thing is that he gets frustrated no one listens to what he has to say.

He is trying to warn people, watch out, you're heading for a cliff, but no one listens and he feels hopeless about that. How we are treating this world makes him feel so frustrated.

he has a lot of deja vu's, do you have those sometimes? Like you have been in exact situation before and you know what the other person is going to say? Everything looks like it has happened before? It only last a split second. I have had it too but not as many as he has. Can you relate to it?

Please keep writing.

It's a struggle too be honest... I've got everything I need and want... I don't really know what I should be doing with my life...

I splurged out last night and got a pizza deal. I'm regretting it now as it was costly. And I know the money could of gone elsewhere. Where it would of been more needed.

I'm due for my depot today. So another 28 day cycle begins. I find dealing with doctors frustrating.

Yea I've had dajavu a few times. Not much anymore though. Some say it is a symptom. Or linked to certain illnesses. It's a strange feeling.

Yea having a good super network is very important. A psychosocial rehabilitation support programme helped me meet The few people in similar circumstances. I catch up with them a fair bit. It's totally separate from family relatives, old schoolmates or work colleagues. They're kind of on the same wave link as myself. I spent years trying to make 'my old life' workout.

hello @eudemonism

I say Brilliant that you splurged out on a pizza deal....

You gave yourself a treat.....

never feel guilty about that.....

It is actually a hard thing to do if we have other expenses....So in my mind showing great strength there ...

Phew....Here I go again....You truly do not realise your inner strengths dear Eude...

Doctors....medical system...health system...frustrating does not come close at times....As long as we continue to speak up about our needs and they listen...we can deal with them...

Understand about your 28 day cycle happening....All the more reason for the pizza deal...Again great insight even though your feelings are probably not taking you there..

Nurturing time now....cuddling with mister and puss....my cats are not great at cuddles though....patting animals is very soothing and calming...they can also sense when we are going through a bad time...

do you talk to your pets? I do .....

thinking of you at this time of your health cycle.....

big hug and heart for you

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@eudemonism Easy one that Or societies judgement of mental illness and it sucks.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@eudemonism

Yeah the stigma is there and I blame the media, with all their negative reporting.

That sort of sucks but there are people out there that have great insight and are helpful and willing to listen.

This forum is a good example.

In our reality.... it takes courage to try to connect and it takes time to find out who your real friends are. Sometimes it is someone you haven't seen for a while, but everytime you bump into eachother, you feel the connection and you feel good about talking to him/her.

Does this makes sense?

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Hello @eudemonism @Grasshopper3 @Bunniekins

Well I wrote one of my epic replies.....only to disappear in cyberspace ...following or branching out in an entirely different direction to alll of my other wayward responses...

no matter...you are probably all having a sigh of relief... laugh...

I think that your question Eude is great....certainly would make an interesting debate....I love debates...so hard to find other likeminded people in this world...two of my overseas relatives are of the same mind which was such a find when I visited..

The definition of mental illness and how judged over thousands of years makes very interesting reading....

Not much has changed overall in relation to stigma if you look at all of the different cultures...treatments....beliefs....judgements...comments coming out of peoples mouths....

Some change has started to happen with Stigma Awareness campaigns......reaching those who are open to think about the differences in people from varying perspectives and not judge...

those who are speaking up about their experiences in a genuine way...

it takes such great courage to talk to a world consisting of those who are quick to criticise....people who do not think outside of the square...just follow the crowd...

There is a long way to go though.....

Discussions like these are a huge help..

Again Eude you have more intelligence and emotional awareness than you give yourself credit for....

keep on writing...
