Coming to terms with reality

Coming to terms with reality

Hi Readers, i am suffering from "mental health issues" and it is an ongoing, daily battle. I am pretty much constantly wrestling with the thoughts going on in my mind. And my psychical life seems too be suffering for it. (There is a huge difference between physical and mental ) something is definitely not right! So each day I'm waking up and going about my routine. And over the last few days, weeks and months. I have been noticing changes in my mentality toward myself, others and life. And some questions such as, what is my life about? And what should my objectives be? Have arisen... of course like we all are, I'm subject too making decisions... and there has been the same options in front of me time and time again for months on end. And it becomes rather draining and mundane. And i feel myself going around in circles like something simple just ain't connecting.

I enjoy writing, art, music. And peace of mind... walking, reading, meditation. Taking care of myself. Socialising. Etcetera. Getting ahead, getting in front. Planning, dreaming and so on. And do my best to look after myself. While accepting that it can only ever be so much.

But there just something not quite right. And I'm suffering for it on a daily basis. And I'm tired and fed up with going through the same stuff everyday. And in all honesty. Alot of my suffering comes from prospective and thought processes.

Does anyone wanna talk with me about some things that might help? In particular dealing with people no matter who they are. Can be very stressful and cause lots of procrastinating about pros and cons. In particularly people who i think about reaching out to for support. Because of dilemmas dramas and social dynamics. And picking up on things that "aint really happening" "gut feelings type of stuff " "intuition" that type of thing. And enjoying time with people is great! I just tend to be overly preoccupied with symptoms to be worried about socialising sometimes "Symptoms which involves others"

Hey @eudemonism...

Hope you're having a nice day❤️

A gentle reminder for things that might help you

1. A short/long walk as you like it.
2. Journal to set some tasks/activities for the day
3. Going decaf (fully or partially) with your coffee or an alternative
4. Spend 15-30 mins on any hobby of your liking.

It's the same plan I have made for myself... thought I might share. Will be nice if you can throw in some more ideas to this list for you/me and everyone interested.

Hope u have a great time today!👍

Re: Coming to terms with reality

hello @eudemonism

I feel for you and your struggles knowing that you are facing the same each month..

I wish that you could have an advocate who would help you find a doctor who listens to your needs...then refer you to a psychiatrist who will listen to how much your life is stunted by your current medication...

Nobody can be expected to have a quality of life dealing with that month after month..

I wish that you find a way to seek help from a new source...again you have to be listened to...

for today I hope that you have enough energy to do something that gives you some peace....

thinking of you

Thanks for your support... I wasn't able to sleep much yesterday..thanks to coffee... but feeling far better now.

Working on giving up tea starting tomorrow... cold turkey, do you think it's a good ideal? Would need your help please.

@eudemonism... hope you've had a peaceful day. Not sure if you've had any coffees today?

your question re giving up tea cold turkey? ...Do you feel that your overall intake of caffeine is affecting you with agitation..unable to sleep? I think that you would have to be drinking quite a substantial number of cups of coffee and tea to have any withdrawal symptoms....You might get a headache..

I drink herbal tea that has no caffeine...I did stop coffee altogether as well when I was having heart palpitations and chest pains...I had full testing of heart which came back all well..So I have now started having two small cups of plunger coffee in the morning..will probably cut this back to one small cup...when in hospital I will stick to herbal tea only as probably won't like their coffee and hope to sleep well...I drink water during the day as do not like soft drinks and fruit juices are too sweet...

simply..caffeine does affect me...therefore I limit my intake...I eat far less chocolate...I eat dark chocolate which of course also contains caffeine...this is tragic as I favour savoury snacking..chocolate is mainly the only sugary snack that I have...I love dark chocolate..I am aware that I have less anxiety and little if any chest pain with limited caffeine daily..

Observe how you feel daily...any cravings etc...anxiety? headaches?

@Former-Member...
I was drinking 2-3 cups of tea until day before yesterday and I do think I am more anxious on tea vs. without.

Having bad headache without tea since yesterday... may be I can keep it to 1 cup a day initially.

Don't feel like even opening eyes and can't think straight. I have tried quitting earlier though.. it hasn't bit that bad.

@Former-MemberHi

Thanks guys for reminding me to get my morning coffee

@eudemonism

Thinking of you mate. I have thought similar things to your posts about the mh system. I am not in your position, but I know many people are and if they read your posts. They may know they are not alone.

Depot medication as a life sentence is wrong. I understand there may be reasons but the MH reviews ought to be genuine and not just roll over every year. The scandinavian models show that there are other ways. Take care

@FriendconnectI liked your frankness about not giving a wrong answer. Getting to know ourselves is a journey we can do with others, then go off on a tangent of our own when needed. Meet up again. Walk together a bit.etc

A long time ago I used to be angry about living in black and white and not being a real girl cos I was not into colour. Having the computer and seeing a few things others posted on the forum sent me on my journey of exploring art. It has helped lighten my load and colour my day. There are twists and turns in the road, but we can have a few good moments ...

Hope you dont mind me popping in.

hello @Friendconnect

Feeling the way you are is very draining....

I am in a similar place myself at the moment...too much sadness all around me with people in my life...

It does not sound as those symptoms are related to stopping drinking 2-3 cups of tea per day...

Have you changed medications recently or stopped taking any medication suddenly?

I have had a long love and hate association with tea.. but it has to be kicked out for good I know.

No changes to any medicines no.. I have stopped medicines since August last year for a psychotic episode last easter... have been ok without them since then. Don't thing they've benefitted much except with weight gain and loss of confidence.

Will do anything to avoid the situation again... have been reading too much stuff of late and caffeine is a major culprit in many many cases of mental illnesses.

Though I had one tea just now... but going off it again for good.

I need support here from others or better still we can have a new thread that reminds people NOT to have their morning tea/coffee and maybe a nice thought. Lemon honey/herbal drinks are far better.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Friendconnect

would you like to start a new thread...would enable you to meet other like minded people...

would be a great distraction and help for you..

There is an area in the Lived Experience forum called...looking after ourselves...then once in that area you click on the box marked new discussion...

Think of what title you would like to give your thread ...something that signifies ...avoiding caffeine or similar in your words...

Re: Coming to terms with reality

Yes would love to... let's see how many people come along. I didn't know I could.

Hope you're able to do well with people around you. One really good thing about having a mental illness is that it teaches a lot about people around you. The assumptions fall apart and a clear picture comes out.
I can totally identify with you and many others...

my experience had also cultivated a sort of resentment for the closest ones now that I know their true standing. Have made peace with all of it now.

Forgiveness is one of the toughest things... most of all forgiving others that have caused pain as well as self. We hardly realise we're not doing it for others but ourselves.

Re: Coming to terms with reality

@Former-Member,
Just want to highlight from the discussions we had previously regarding self love.

Forgiving everyone is vital to move on with life towards positive things, however, trusting again can be a different game altogether.

Its important to learn from past mistakes and act accordingly in the same or new relationships- there should be no need to continue in a relationship of sacrificing self - that's the Self-Love bit, never to be forgotten.. of course 😊

Hope you'll be able to make decisions based on your true values... as long as you're able to justify a decision to yourself without inner conflicts... know that you're heading in the right direction.❤️
