Well done @outlander Bravo for standing up for your healthcare rights! Personally I don't think your Mum's bf has any right to interfere in any of your sessions. He is NOT your parent and it doesn't seem like he is very supportive of you at all. I am a step parent and when it comes to things like this, unless the child particularly wants me to be involved, I take a step back as it isn't my right to assert my thoughts on a human being I have no business doing (I hope that makes sense?).

Continue to be assertive but polite when putting forward your request for a female psychologist. You never know, you might actually be heard somewhere down the line. I think it is pretty poor for your current psychologist to speak to your Mum's bf (again he's not your next of kin) behind your back and without your permission. If they felt they had a duty of care to inform family (if you were at serious risk to yourself or other people), they should have spoken to your Mum NOT her bloody bf! Gah! I am soooo angry reading that!

Hello @outlander

I'm sorry your still going through the wringer! I don't understand your Doctors pushing for a non-blood relative . . . or anyone for that matter, to attend appointments with you? Maybe I could understand them advising family counselling? I just don't get it. By I hear your peep and I think it's turning into a roar! I can't help feeling proud; and yet sorrowful about all the pressure that's pushing you there.

You've got me guessing - you say you have similarities to the actress in the show with your name. Is it the eyes Outlander . . . do you have blue eyes! (drool:)) {I don't really expect you to tell me, it's ok :)}

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hi @outlander and everyone! @outlander good on you for getting your scripts re done. Power to you woman! And yuck why on earth would they think you would want to go to therapy with your mums boyfriend?? Are you close with him? Has he been in your life for a while? Had your mum said anything about wanting to go with you?

My mum doesn't think im depressed enough for hospital or whatever, but I guess she doesn't realise that I don't reveal everything to her whereas I feel a can reveal most things to my psychiatrist. Maybe your mum is kinda the same? You aren't going to reveal every dark personal thought to her so maybe she thinks what she can see is the whole picture and that you are A-OK. What do you reckon?

I wasn't happy on weekend and vowed to leave sane due to disagreement with a moderator comments but read your thread tonight and have to say I'm proud of you because you are showing you have gained a insight if your situation.Your concerns are justified,your gut instincts which you cannot ignore.Your rights to privacy and respect are being violated by you not agreeing or happy with your mother's boyfriend (who one questions whether he has any rights), attending appointments violating your privacy without your approval/, consent.If your family are stopping you from taking medication which sounds like it is supported by your doctor and psychiatrist or whoever,they are violating your right to access healthcare,and this is actually abuse .The rapport between you and the psychologist is essential to get help,not the rapport between your psychologist and your mother or whoever.Thats not helping you in anyway and you know from your statements it won't. Basically the main attribute of any professional in counseling is their listening skills,and it is obvious you aren't being listened to.Only do what you are comfortable with, and anything you aren't they are supposed to respect.

Last thing in regard to the local mental health.Yes they are good to access a psychiatrist,but I wasn't happy with this kind of "help"because they deal with you in a case management way.I went to them several times, last year I went,told my problems to one then she went to get her supervisor who I had to repeat myself again and I wasn't comfortable with that at all.I did a course in Community Work where you learn it's wrong for a client to have to repeat themself.That wasn't help.I also felt I couldn't trust them and with mental health I question my privacy because they go and have a group discussion about you.I suggest you make the decision who you are happy as your help.One or two preferably so you don't have to repeat yourself and privacy is maintained.

Re: when is it time for hospital

It make me abit releived to know im not over reacting to this, I had a weird feeling something was off and I couldnt seem to reason with anyone to say hes not my freaking biological father and I dont want anyone at my session esp the first one because thats where most fo the starting story details come out .

@Queenie

yes that does make sense what you have said. I kinda get where they are coming from and I think they are coming from a good thought as in they just want to help, bt in this way they arent helping me. Thye arent listening to what I want and they are just over powering everything that I do.
I was assertive but iw as frustrated because I felt the gp wasnt listening to me today when I said he isnt my father so why does he need to come to a session. Theres no way I want him or my mother or anyone else there for that matter
Queenie im glad im not the only one angry about this, I thouhght I might have been over thinking things but at the same time my gut and head was telling me its not right.
They dont have a duty of care, this psych has no idea who I am, never seen me and couldnt pick me form someone standing in front of him.

@Former-Member

they thre out all of my tablets. I couldnt believe it. I approached them abuout it too. I said why did you throw my tablets out and they said you dont need them.
I said you threw out my sleeping tablets- your only 20 you shouldnt need them
and the freaking anti-nausea tablets for gods sake!!!!

@Former-Member

its never going ot end Niqua! Im in a constant state of distress and stress and its very much taking its toll on me and its even ahrder when people who arent health professionals seem to think they know better when they freaking dont. They arent advising family counselling and im not agrreeing to that either esp not right now. Its far from a roar Niqua but I think its gettign pushed way to far and soon it might not be assertive itll be more agro and I hate that side of me- it doesnt come out very often whatsoever but I think its just getting to me as well as the bullies as well.
Niqua
guessing hey? I can tell you but hmm maybe on the other hand abit of enterainment for us lol
yes I do have a few similarties to claire- I do have blue eyes yes, brown hair and my hair is very similar to her in the nature of waves, the length is just around the same length as well. Hmm im more tanned than her- ive got the natural brown tan that stays with me all year round just get abit darker in summer. Im not as skinny as her nor have her strong personality traits. You also wouldnt catch me in a dress lol but we are both trained n the medical field though she is a lot better than me as im very basic
anything else?

@Former-Member

ooh ive missed you so much too- glad to see you back! I missed my little pancake buddy
I dont understand why tey keep psuhing either but its distressing and frustrating me.
No im not close to him yet he keeps saying I know her better than any of you psychs
hes been in our lives for just over a year now and they are engaged (my mum and her bf that is) and nope my mother doesnt want to come with me either and I wouldnt let her either or him. I think thats wrong.
She and her bf have a pretty good idea of what im going through. They know pretty much everyhting except that ive actaully self harmed- they know I have those thoughts but dont know ive actually done it. Tey dont know the full extent of the suicidal thoughts but they do ease every now and then and the sexual abuse other than that they know the rest- health anxiety, gad, depression and ptsd were expalined to them so they have a pretty good idea of whats going on.

@Former-Member

yes I seent hat disagreement but wasnt in a good headpace to comment on anything except very simply 'checking in'. Im glad to see you back
yes I didnt feel I was being listened to, what I wasnt getting was I was trying to say to them why does it matter if they agree I need this medications -which they agreed to and they wanted me on them- but I shoudlnt have to drag someone who doesnt listen to me to discuss medications with a psychologist. Nope I dont think thats right and I also dont think its fair. There isnt a chance I would open up in their esp with that arrogant psychologist who I have requested a transfer before I even see him and with either mum or her bf (who doesnt have legal rights over me and being voer 18 neither does my mother technically- I would literally sit there awkward and because of that I wouldnt. Thats what I thought too- I thought the rapport for me and the psychologist was important and especting wishes but its not going that way for me very well at all. I dont know what they thinkk they willa chieve by throwing me into a room with two men who hardley know me at hmm hmm perfect logic not.
I dont mind it being managed like a case sort of way where all my health professionals kinda co-ordinate but im scared that they are going to ring my house number and I dont want them too.
I honestly done even know why they disclosed inforamtion in the first place. They should have talked to me not someone else. They are giving out information about me that they 'think' is going on with me but they havent even said anything to me about it. So im getting second hand information that shouldnt have been said anyway. So that im not happy about

i havent had the conversation about my tablets yet and im abit worried casue it doesnt seema s tense as last night but i know as soon as i bring it up its not going to be too goo but i know i need them

Re: when is it time for hospital

Outlander,the relationship between you and anyone in life is based on trust, without that there isn't a relationship.If you can say that you don't trust your mother's boyfriend,or a professional like the one last weekend who rang your mother with your disapproval,it's a waste of time.I question your mother's boyfriend's prescence and anyone actually good at their profession should pick up your body language both verbal and nonverbal to assess your situation to actually help you.

In regard to information about you,that' is one of the most humiliating aspects of my experiences,as I said last weekend,I had heard the same crap ,four words that my mental health nurse wrote about me,it wasn't nice and made me feel humiliated. Trusted him for 4 years. It's hard to trust anyone outlander but I suggest dont sign anything unless you understand what you are signing.They should have respect and get your ok on how you wish to be contacted.Its important when we are like this, vulnerable to feel ,"safe",and it's their duty of care to theoretically do so.

Re: when is it time for hospital

It will end , nothing lasts forever.@outlander I'm so sorry about your distress and think I have a little idea of the toll it must be taking on you. I do not blame you for not wanting counselling with your family or not wanting them at your Doctors appointments, it's your private buiness, you have a right to keep whatever you choose to yourself! I don't blame you for not wanting to be pushed into agression, I don't like that side of me either, though like you it takes a lot - a real lot (and never for myself), but I think I'd be doing it for you right now! But I also think I understand a little why it's there, your not being hear - well it's like your being heard but ignored and that's even worse! Sorry the bullies are still being a problem - really not what you need at the moment!
Oooo, blue eyes and wavy brown hair . . . my goodness, you sweetheart! 🙂 I've got naturally tanned skin too, though with my skin that way it is, and my avoidance of the Sun, it's not so noticable now. I've got boring brown eyes, but lots of ribbons and rings permanently grown into my dreads.

I don't think you should have to tell your family about your meds, that's your private buisness, but maybe keep them in your car and keep the keys on you at all times. You poor thing having to live like that, you make me realize how lucky I was to get out of home much younger. (At least then my mistakes were my own)

I'm putting all the will I can into making things better for you as quickly as they can. Stay strong Outlander, don't give up, we're all on your side and with you

Niqua

@Former-Member
I dont trust that psych one bit thats why I wanted to change and am changing eventually but I wont be seeing this one. There will never be a rapport with him so its not much use going to see him.
I dont get why I was getting pushed into it. I dont want to do it and im not going to.
Before I do start up with the mh team Ill be asking a few things in regards to privacy confidentiallity and those sort of things because at the moment it seems that they arent listening to me when I say I dont want to do that, I dont want my mother or her bf involved, and I dont want them to be contacted.

@Former-Member
it feels like its going on forever. Nothing seems to be improving and im just getting worse or going in circles. I dont really seem to be going anywhere!
I dont want to do those suggestions and im glad im not the only one who wouldnt be comfortable with it either.
Yes im being heard but ignored- thats what it feels like esp after today!
And yep those friggin bullies are still there!

I know I dont have to tell them about the meds but if they find them they will go in the bin or yell at me so I dont know whats worse getting yelled, ignored etc for hiding them or getting yelled at/ignored etc for being honest. I feel like I cant win. I alread know what the reaction is going to be. Ive been right about the other phones calls and treatments and their reactions so far so I cant doubt myself about that now.

It doesnt matter what you look like your still my Niqua to me, rings ribbons, boring brown eyes and dreadies, ever bit of you. But yes wavy brown hair and bue eyes. They use to be bright blue but now they are going grey and ive been told by an iridologist that the colour will return but with all this distress etc its made them fade. Now thats saying something- this is all affecting me right down to the color of my eyes.
