No - you are not to blame for anything
Your response to try and care for your mother and any one else when there was domestic violence is very common - it happens often
Children are very vulnerable - they feel the need to protect other people because they need the protection themselves - not that they aware of this need themselves
And as for your mental illness - I am not sure that you are mentally ill - if you are it's because you have been screwed around all your life - if you get the right treatment and are not treated this badly - like you are worth nothing yet have so much responsibility - I reckon you will be fragile from your trauma but you will be pretty well okay - I have said something like that before

Aw - Granma Dec too
All you need in this world is a good break - you need to be treated decently and to feel loved and these are basic needs for everyone and you are not getting either or any other good breaks
It's easy for me to say all of this

Yes - I think you can recover a great deal - I still have PTSD from earlier in my life
I am not sure that you have BPD - you are not self-centred and you are aware of other people's needs and do your best to care for them and you have done this all your life
My son had BPD and he never cared about anyone or anything - he couldn't help it - he had no control - and you are really scared but with all the trauma you show a tremendous amount of control
Even when it is at it's really hard for you - you still stay there and do your best
So I can't say that you will not suffer from the results of all of this just as I still suffer from the past - but things will be very different when you are free from so much domination and you are helped to start a life that is far more under your control and just better

Yes - you have depression and anxiety @outlander - it's caused by your surroundings
I was in a sad marriage with my son totally out of control - I had anxiety and depression and I was totally out of control yet I still did things
After I recovered from my son's death and got out of my marriage I was able to recover - I believe you will too - but it will take time and like me I think you will always be emotionally fragile - but I think you will find life so very different you will find it hard to believe how bad all of this was - but you will know this
