Hi @outlander
I am so glad @Former-Member@Former-Member@Former-Member and @CheerBear have been on here with you - I am okay- I am doing my taxes and I have done most of it but have paper everywhere - and so I have been super-busy and seem to have missed a lot of chaos in your life
I don't get it that you have to have someone with you when you saw whomever it was - and you are over 18 - but furious that your mother kept messaging you go get back home and that all your medication except the antibiotics and simple pain-killers were gone - how dare she? Like HOW DARE SHE?
You were seeing a medical professional for goodness sake - and you have been living a life of hell for weeks and in normal circumstances you would have been able to turn to your mother - but on this case - no - you couldn't
It has been difficult following the story because I have been off-line - but I am just tidying up and filing the stuff for a tax-accountant now so I am here with a clear head - what the ........ has been happening and I hope you are safe with this person you are with now - I know there are some people who have emergency accomodation for people in a tough place like yourself
Thinking of you Outlander and sending hugs

Note to the moderator who removed my last thread
I find you unjustified in removing it bacause I stated the fact that there are unfortunately idiots we trust with our mental health system .As someone who has experienced it I have seen hypocrisy and a duty of care that leaves a lot to be desired.I always emphasize to everyone the importance of getting the right help.Nothing in that thread was offensive and unfortunately I stated a fact,not a irrational thought.I will respect your decision to remove it but read it and think next time before you take my right to my opinion.There are some good professionals,but there are some who leave a lot to be desired and can do more harm than good.Like anything else getting help has its negatives,and while you may protecting your fellow professionals,let me inform my fellow vulnerable sane mates to help them make decisions to ensure they get the right help.

Hi Niqua
I am an accountant but it is a long time since I practised and the tax laws have changed - but I can do most of this myself - it's just a case of sorting out tonnes of paper and recharging my old computer for some other documents - I have three years of stuff her to avoid paying minimum tax - ah - the botheration of the paper war - but I have started putting some of it in a folder with labels - so I have done the worst of it
I am really concerned for @outlander - Oh yeah - I can understand her mother - she is really rough of someone she should be much kinder to and from what I can gather whatever happened has stirred Outlander into moving out - I hope so - she has been through an horrific time - I am hoping I hear from her soon
I am so glad other people got into the convo with her though -

Hi @Former-Member
Unfortunately the way you worded your post was considered defamatory that may have pursuaded other users not to seek help from these professionals. I certainly didn't see it as offensive, I was only going by what the guidelines state is appropriate. And after deliberation with my co-workers, I had to reject it. Again you can read the guidelines here. It was not an attack by any means, and I certainly agree with you that there are some professionals that know what they are doing, and others that don't. I'm sorry if I made you upset by removing the post, it is still fine to re-post it taking out that highlighted bit in the email

@Former-Member and @Zahlia,
I didn't read the post, but I have to agree with Li1 that you can only defame a person, not a profession. I am currently seeing my tenth mental health professional in 12 months. The number of mental health professionals out there who are incompetent and who do harm is terrifying. I am now in a much worse position than I was a year ago, due to repeated re-traumatization. I was in a complicated relationship with a verbally and physically abusive psychologist for sixteen years. I know what harm mental health professionals can do. Again, I don't know what @Former-Member said, but it does not sit well with me that a post was removed on the basis that it "defamed" a profession. ![]()

Hello @Former-Member and @Phoenix_Rising
I am terribly sorry to hear that you have both had such negative experiences with mental health professionals and your feedback about those experiences deserve to be heard so that improvements can be made. I can assure you that criteria to enter into the profession for the younger generation of students has become much stricter.
That being said, @Zahlia removed the post because there was a generalization made about psychiatrists which came across as negative. These types of negative generalizations are not encouraged on the sane forums and are against the guidelines. However your individual experiences are welcome and we hope that you both continue to share your stories.
