Re: when is it time for hospital

Outlander, why don't you just take yourself to hospital?. If your psych said to go, just go. Who cares what other people say. Do what you need to do for you.
You can sort things out in hospital and have a bit of time to yourself.

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hey @outlander I agree with @Former-Member. who threw your meds out? That is a recipe for disaster. Take yourself to hospital, if that's what your doctor recommended then just go xx

Re: when is it time for hospital

Wow outlander,I'm surprised psychiatrists work Saturday especially the long weekend.I have several concerns.I question the need for the psychiatrists to ring your mother, unless it's because you are under the age of 21.I question if she was unethical in breaking the right you had to privacy .She broke your trust which is what has happened to me which possibly has isolated you through her actions. On the other hand,it might make your family realise what your situation, and I realise the situation is not favourable at the moment.I can say I have been in a similar situation...which the outcome was I never will forgive or forget .I hope it works out the opposite for you.Dont ignore the calls from mental health, even if you get on the phone and talk crap and say everything is ok.Its better than the cops at your door, which makes it worse.

My last concern outlander is your mention of sleeping pills .It makes me sad that a twenty year old is using these .They can have negative impacts on your life.Bad enough antidepressants, which I won't take because my depression and anxiety is caused by my environment.I agree with the others if you have to go to hospital at least it's a way of removing yourself from the situation.

Why don't you want your mother to know you were sexually abused? Don't you think they will believe you?Is the offender out of your life or is it someone in the family ?

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander - I definitely agree with @Former-Member in that it isn't a particularly great idea to ignore the mental health team if they're trying to get hold of you. I have lived in the mh system for a long time. I know my rights and will state them and defend them with passion. But I did not ignore the mental health team and made sure that at the very least I answered just to let them know I was alive. Even if it is simply to say that now is not a good time for you and organise a better time for them to call or check in.

I read your post again and there's so much in there about what other people want from you or want you to do (i felt reluctant to add the above sentences for this reason). This picture you painted reflects so many of the difficulties you seem to face - that there's no space to work out what you want in all of this.

If you couuld turn off all the other noises around and focus on yourself, what is it that you want? What do you think is best for you right now?

Re: when is it time for hospital

I was surprised to find she was working either. She has been pestering me to ring my mother since before I even went. At that point I got a call from reception saying I had to have someone with me at my appointments, and that reception would ring be back to see if she would accept me in the first place because I declined. I asked her not to ring her and she kept pushing and pushing me to the point I was distressed and didnt have much choice for her to ring my mother. Im over 18 so techcnically they shouldnt ring unless I am in complete and utter danger and I wasnt, we more dicussing a weekend at hospital so I could quickly increase the meds dose and monitor more closely.

The mental health team hasnt rung back yet and I dont have the energy or courage to ring them back but ill see about ringing them back tomorrow. They havent sent anybody around yet anyway. At the moment im wishing I hadnt of even started any of this, I shouldve kept my mouth shut

the antipsychotics were that plus the sleeping tablets which seemed to help sometimes. I was only sleeping if I was lucky 3 hours a night and most of the time I had nightmares during that time.

I didnt want anyone to know about the SA at all but I needed to get pap smeas and lucky I have. I think they would believe me but im not saying anything at all. I am safe and out of my life and everyone that I knows life. I want to move forward not go backwards.

By the time I got home from my psyciatrist appointment- I had to take my antibiotics and so went into the cabinet where all my meds are and all of them were gone except my antibiotics and the pandadols, the rest was gone

my psychiatrist wanted me to start back on my old antidepressants but they didnt work anyway. So im waiting for everything to get out of my system. Im not expecting much sleep at all and im a friggin idiot because im scratching to the exent where I need to stop before I mak msyelf bleed so im going to have to go to some sort of dr and get treatment for that.

As I was eaving my house to go to some strangers hosue which Is where I am now, im awkwardly sitting here watching tv, and this is the first chance ive had to even get onto here, I forgot my antiiotics so I walked back in grabbed them and said they said bye and I said bye just taking my only meds im allowed to have

I cant feel anymore alone than what I am right now

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hi @outlander

I hope you are safe at the "strangers" house. That makes me a bit concerned. I'm also concerned with family throwing out your meds and wanting you to just move on and stop wasting money. I hope they will eventually listen when a professional talks to them.

Please call the hospital or the mental health team tomorrow morning so they can help you. I don't know what meds you were on and how long for, but it is dangerous to stop cold turkey with mine and I guess others are the same.

Thinking of you and stay in touch x

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hello outlander

I think I’ve found the thread that explains your stress. It’s from ‘when is it time to go to hospital’ I think. Have you moved out of home, or are you in a care facility? My heads a bit muddled and I think and I don’t think I’ve read enough to really understand. I’m guessing you consented to your Mother being contacted after being pressured to do so? That wouldn’t be the best way for it to happen, but it may still be a good thing. I’m guessing your Mother threw away your medications on the Doctors advice? That doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, as I thought you were being ‘weaned’ off one to begin another? I can’t imagine a Doctor simply removing all medications?

I’m really feeling for you right now Outlander, I’m also so very proud of you, you might be in a muddle, but your managing – coping the best you can, really striving to move forward and get better.

You’re not alone! Something I have vaguely learnt over the years is that just because someone is there in physical form, does not mean they’re there for you. People on this Forum are here for you as they are there for me and each other. This little Forum community understands individual people better than some Doctors I think! . . . well, I think, more to the point, they accept people better than most.

Love you Outlander, can’t send you enough right now. Keep striving, I know it’s hard, but you have an entire community wanting the best for you – try not to forget that. I feel a bit like a fluffed up Mother Hen, ready to attack any predator that threatens my little chick!

Stay well. Don’t give up.
