Re: when is it time for hospital

@CheerBear i wish it wasnt this hard. i really do ive gone from being slightly out of control to now pretty much completly out of control in a matter of months weeks even!

im trying to think of options but the only one besides continuing on with what im doing and getting in to see that psychologist checking in to either one of my local hospitals seems the only option 😞

i hope you start to feel better soon- i bet that tooth being pulled out would have bene bloody painful and i bet it still is now. im glad youve got your cat to keep you company. hugs to you too and your often in my thoughts even when im not 'here'

Re: when is it time for hospital

ok wow fnally someone is taking this seriously!

i went to this new gp while mine is away and im glad i went today.

it was a longer appointment jsut to get a bit of details etc but we covered how i was feeling and my thoughts etc. she said its really important that i ring 000 is this continues becasue im at the point now where the next step is where i might intend to act on these thoughts. it is time for some serious help.

shes made sure and even had to show her i had the helpline numbers in my phone and she re gave me the mental health team in my area as well as they apparently can organise an emergent home psychiatrsit visit or soemthing for an assessment and i wasnt aware of that. she had made me an urgent appintment to see my psychatrist to keep an eye out as well and i see her tomorrow at 9am.

she gave me my swabs back for downstairs and it istnt thrush but some sort of other infection so she gave me antibiotics for it and she checked the lump thing and she said it has burst which is why the symptoms as well. i told her this was the second time it happened she said its likeley it will happened again but next time it happens as soon as it look the way it did before as in its coming to a point like its going to pop- cover it and try not to pop it and book an urgent appointment and she will do a draining procedure to fully clear it out but as it has already popped she doesnt want to try and drain it as yet as the antibiotics i have might do the trick and destroy both germs in one go. she said becasue im under so much stress my immune system is low so i am abit more susceptable to germs and them getting worse atm.

the gp said to make an appintment next week and becasue i usually book online i didnt stop at reception- the gp put an urgent ring for the reception to ring until i answer give it three goes otherwise she was sending someone out to check on me.

but i answered the first time but they told me that as well.

they said she wants to actually see me twice a week and if i dont come in or i dont ahve a valid reason then they were sending someone out.

so they rung me and made an appointment for wednesday and friday next week.

i also ahve my nurse next wednesday as well and

next wednesday i also have my first psychologist appointment with the new one

that is alot of appointments but i guesss if its going to help me stop going to hospital then its what i have to do.

That's good outlander

Sounds like the doctor is a good one, which makes a difference because it's easier to get a rapport with them and to open up.

It's all good as long as it's helpful. If you aren't comfortable at all let them know so it can be fixed.Yes better than hospital because you are still in your life or a retreat.Just ensure your privacy is respected at all times.

I'm having a bad distressful time past few hours where it is hard when you feel the doom of hopelessness and giving up time.If you have the support, use it.

Re: when is it time for hospital

This is great news @outlander 🙂 I can hear a sense of relief I think?

I didn't realise that you were unaware of how your local mental health crisis team works. It seems different between states but from what I can see there are similarities. There is the option of walking in to emergency department of a hospital, but this seems to be a very hit and miss option for a lot of people. Another option where I am is to call a central intake number which operates 24/7 for 'triage' (this is what my mh worker called). From there they work out what support is required and if needed will refer to the local community mental health team (which is often what they do). Here it used to be called the crisis assessment and treatment team, but now it has a different name. This team consists of psychologists, psych nurses and psychiatrists. They work as a brief intensive support for people in crisis, and can provide home visits (during both business and after hours), assessments, referrals (to local support services including emergency services), 24/7 phone support, clinic appointments etc. The whole area mental health service has teams who work in the community, in hospital, in the break-places and from memory in the community care units, forming what is the spectrum of acute care. It is through the area mental health service that a referral to hospital comes from (if it is not a direct emergency department walk in or emergency services trip in).

Just letting you know how it is here because I have a feeling it is similar in most places, though with differences and I could be wrong.

I remember you saying that you didn't want to walk in to the hospital, so I hope in having the number of your local mental health team has given you at least another option for consideration.

Sounds super productive today and well done on keeping on keeping on 🙂

Am glad @outlander that your appointment today was helpful. You seem so glad about it which makes me so happy for you. Yes alot of appointments but as you stated positively, it will assist with going down the hospital route.

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hi @outlander

I am really glad this new GP is taking you seriously - I can't tell you how glad I am

I have already told you that you need to put yourself first for a change - so I am not saying this again ever - but I still think it - you are an incredibly generous and kind-hearted person and you have to do what you have to do - but it might come to someone taking this out of your hands and for you - this could be a really good thing

I had a couple of abscesses on my upper arm many years ago - and the doctor couldn't open them until they were ready - pretty much like what you have on your breast but without an opening - so they cooked for a few days until she lanced them

Now with what you have - it has an opening to come through - so yes - making sure you don't pop it yourself check this in the mirror night and morning and watch to see if there is swelling or discolouration and getting that urgent appointment

I am so glad to read this post - you need someone to care for you - and your mother should - you are still very young but seem much older -

I could say more but no - you know what I think so I will support you as much as I can - but you think of yourself more - you are very run down

Lots of motherly hugs - which I am sure you need

yeah she is a good dr, I have rapport with my usual gp but shes on holidays at the moment so ill be seeing this one for the next few weeks. I dont really know if the other one was listening to me and was gettng sick of hearing about whats wrong with me and I dont blame her one bit.
I hope today gets abit easier for you, I hate those stuid thoughts too

Re: when is it time for hospital

@CheerBear

yes it is good news ABOUT TIME TOO. Im over the bad news and yes abit of relief as well that im finally getting listened to!

Yeah I didnt realsie that my mental health team-im in NSW- but I was aware that I ahd the lcoal team but I thought iwas just another helpline. I wasnt aware of their other services such as they can do home visit assessments as well. The one your describing sounds very simialr in services as well. As ours sounds like it pretty much operates and does exactly as you have described as well.

Yes now that im aware that they dont just have the helpline there I can ring them as well and ask for more advice, refferrals etc. the only thing that scares me is the home visists thing, I wouldnt want anyone else here and as its so crowded here it would be rare that I would have time to myself
