Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander - why is hospital not an option?

I guess the thing about plans is that they also need to have a degree of flexibility to allow for unexpected events to happen. Because life is full of surprises.

Little steps Outlander. You don't need to make giant big changes straight away.

Re: when is it time for hospital

This seems to be a really great time to try to stop and just breathe for a moment @outlander.

I'm not sure if I have told you one of my tricks for when I'm 'freaking out'. I visualise a STOP sign. A real one I know well. In my mind I trace the edges slowly, see the white letters, look at the pole, follow the pole to the ground. See what's on the ground. Slowly though. Really slowly. It helps sometimes to sloooooow all the freaking out down.

There's little point in trying to work anything out when your brain is in overdrive.

Re: when is it time for hospital

my horse needs more treatment again and this time i have to continue 3 times a day plus cleaning out 2 paddocks, feeding and watering plus having to feed the other 2 horses that we have at a separate paddock. my horse hasnt been exercised for a few weeks becasue lve been flat out and not well.

so theres that. i tried ti make a simple change today and that hasnt gone to paln either and if i cant make a simple change then how can i make other changes. the vet said in front of me and my mother (rare occasion shes there) but he said morning about 8 then about lunch time then about 4oclock i need to treat her so that the interavals arent too close and ive the treatment time to work as well. and i said to mum well i think its going to be hard to get here three times a day it might have to be 2 times a day but when your off work then you will have to get the kids ready for school so i can start doing the third doese when i can. she wasnt happy about it.

ive still got to care for my pop and get to appointments as well.

and now mum thinks she wont be able to drive her car until she gets a part fixed which means she will ahve to take her bf to work and pick him up or ill have to if shes not home from work plus ill ahve to still pick up the kids and look after them and take them to school if she has to take him to work

hospital is now out of the question because i cant leave my mother to do all of that and she also has work so how can she treat the horse. i cant even take a break now. theres just so much to and so little time to do it

i dont knwo how im going to cope with it all.

and im hoping i dont have another infection either. i went to a gp today but she said its fine but it doesnt feel fine

im going to another gp tomorrow morning. it still doesnt feel right. my whole breast is sore and its really painful. and it often burns. it sue to be isolated to jsut that one spot that was panful now its the whole lot including it starting to radiate to my under arm and nipple as well (sorry any guys)

no i dont feel as its its fine at all
im hoping the bad nausea is the stress im under and its not a spreading infection

i didnt sleep much at all, im too stressed about alot of things and night times are always the worst!

its just one thing after another today and im not coping with it and i dont know how im going to continue coping with it. IM WORN OUT AND EXHAUSTED AND IN PAIN and no one seems to care in life form!

Re: when is it time for hospital

Sounds like there is lots happening for you @outlander. I can understand how difficult the idea of respite or a break is when you have significant responsibilities.

Maybe it's worth considering the idea of mental illness as being similar to any other illness. When it becomes so significant it is life threatening, the need for emergency care and intervention seems to outweigh any responsibilities or duties someone may have. When considering the intensity of your suicidal thoughts/ideation that you've been expressing, the statements you've made regarding recently intending to act on them, and the worry and concern you've been having about yourself, if it isn't life threatening right now, it may be at some stage. Maybe it won't, and hopefully it won't, but from what I have read and what you have said, I feel there is reason to believe it 'may'. I feel that way because you have said it yourself.

I'm wondering then, and really I am asking this question so that maybe you consider this perspective, if you were to come down with any other life threatening illness or injury, would you say no to support because of your responsibilities?

I struggle a lot more with justifying time out and time off when it's for my mental health than when it involves my physical health. I know there are heaps of reasons why this seems so common. After the scare I had recently, I am working really hard on this one though. Because when we're talking about mental illness/mental health concerns that are potentially life threatening, it isn't any different to any other life threatening anything, because the end result, if it's beyond our ability to manage ourselves, could be the same.

I too agree, as other's have said here, that concerning yourself with how much others seem to care about you, might need to be put on hold while you focus on caring for yourself, as hard as that may be to do. At the end of the day, every single one of us has really only one person that we can truly rely on to look after us, and that one person is our own self.

Take care of you @outlander

Re: when is it time for hospital

@CheerBear

thank you for your response. It is so friggin hard!

Yes I know, those thoughts are very serious and I know I need help. I really do.
Its just a battle between getting help, hpw to get there, who from and what to do. I know im probably really overthingking things and its prob just as simple as checking into emergency department and going form there but it doesnt seme that simple to me.
And yes I have reason to believe it 'may' happen as well and its more likeley than not at the moment.

In regards to your question about illness or injury... I feel if I had a real injury or something htat isnt invisible to others it would be easier for me to accept more help because people wouldnt think im lying about how I feel. People would actually be able to see it for themselves. So wouldnt question it and then I wouldnt be a complete disgrace to everyone and everything.
And they would understand that I wouldnt be able to do everything that im doing now.

Im trying to put myself first but I just cant seem to do it

Re: when is it time for hospital

I totally understand how the invisibility of mental illness and mental health issues can make it feel so SO much harder to seek support for @outlander. Your answer shows how much you care about other people, and I think that care, while it is clearly a value of yours and such a great quality to have, is also a great source of pain and frustration for you.

I can also understand how not easy this all is. I can hear how hard it is for you, and I can understand it from my own experiences too. It sucks a lot. I wish it was easier for you, and for all of us who have been through similar challenges.

I hope that at some stage in the night you are able to do something that feels and is good for you, even if it is a teeny tiny little thing. I am very sore tonight and planning an early, lie in bed feeling sorry for myself with my blanket and cat, night, but I am sending you my best wishes.
