@outlander lil Sis now is the time to put your mind & body to rest. And you've just listed 4 positives anyway; shower, music, prn meds and mindfulness. Goodnight hun. Talk to you tommorrow.

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hi @outlander What you are experiencing is because your therapy was far to much & its the responsibility of the therapist to assess this during therapy. I have been through exposure therapy for trauma myself & my therapist taught me to ground myself at the end of sessions or when i am feeling like you now. What you can do is lie, sit wherever you are comfortable, close your eyes and let your thoughts go & focus on feeling your feet on the floor, feel your body being supported by the floor, bed,or chair your in. Then listen for the sounds around you, what can you hear, a car go buy, a neighbour or the local dog etc. Can you take a deep breath in & out, focus on your breath in and out. i like feeling my tummy go in and out as i breathe it relaxes me. its surprising what you hear around which brings you back to the now, if your lying down and you fall to sleep thats ok to. Other things that help me are good relaxing music, you tube has good meditation, relaxation music. Try not to think anymore about therapy session today, just rest & if you cant then call you support medical people. Bye for now, @1stepup61

Take some time out for yourself today @outlander - it doesn't have to be much - a few minutes is better than nothing. Find your positive statements, read them, then read them again. It is important for you to see even those little things that are positive as they will help guide you through the tough times with a little hope

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander you're always welcome my lil Sis. Always here by your side whenever you need me. It's normal to feel exhausted after a session like you had. It still doesn't sit right with me that your therapist is acting in your best interests but I'm not there during your sessions so it's hard to know exactly what her purpose and style is like. Even though you're tired today, perhaps before your next session you can prepare for things to do after to help you not to become so overwhelmed afterwards. In DBT these skills are called Cope Ahead & self soothe. I'll include some links below-

https://www.healthyplace.com/blogs/buildingselfesteem/2012/11/the-power-of-coping-ahead/

https://borderlinebabble.com/2015/08/09/dbt-skills-group-emotion-regulation-week-6-abc-please/

https://www.dbtselfhelp.com/html/self-sooth.html

You don't have to look at these today, but they may help you prepare before you go into your next session. Self soothe is not meant to be used all the time; just when you are becoming distressed.

I'll check in with you later ok? I've got a rental inspection tommorow and as much as my depressed butt does not want to move, it has too. Take care sweetheart

@outlander,

I think @Sans911 is more help than me and I think I have to take a backseat in regards to therapy because whilst I'm happy you can talk through trauma,I question the value of counseling after my 4 years.I have to watch I don't taint you through my experiences.
