@outlander,cut yourself some slack, you achieved something today, you relived a trauma .It is a big step but feels like you are thrown back into the past in a second. You are just drained as it brought back your emotions.Just try and "switch off".💤talk tomorrow.

Re: when is it time for hospital

Outlander, Im so sorry you're not feeling good. It's horrible when nothing seems to be working and so painful too. And trauma work is especially hard.
But this is where practice comes in. I know you're not feeling great now, but it will pass. And once it's passed practice some relaxation exercises, something that works for you. From my own experience of trauma work, I had to practice and practice my 'come down' methods while I was feeling okay, before they would work while I wasn't.
So don't beat yourself up if it's not working right now. This feeling WILL pass and you will be back on your feet again tomorrow morning. but for now, don't give up, pick something to do and throw yourself into it. Painting, drawing, sit-ups, whatever. Give it 100% and I promise this will pass.

Re: when is it time for hospital

It is, it totally is. I didn't find it got worse in fact. It actually got easier and easier as each week went on. The 1st week was the hardest.
But you've got to get you're self care activities down. Something that works for you. Right now I'm cuddling my teddy, cause I need that kind of support right now. Whatever it is, make sure you practice it while you're doing okay and when you're not, it will kick in and work then too.
How are you feeling now?

Re: when is it time for hospital

Hi @outlander, wow sounds like you had a big counselling session today. Are you having counselling or therapy? i ask because in my experience I would not have gone so deep in one session, for the reason you are experiencing as its exhausting.Tell your therapist, as they need to know whats going on! i went to hospital when i was very agitated, distressed, could not sleep etc and i was glad i did. I was only in for four days & my medicine was adjusted & the support i recieved helped me, plus i was linked to an Outpatient Service & they advised my GP as well. So, if you need to go, then do so. Do you have someone to go with you? There is also the CATT for mental health emergencies dial ooo. Please dont give up, because like me you will get through this and it is ok to reach out for support & if you feel you need to get medical help do so, because sometimes we all need help. My heart and thoughts are with you! Kind regards, @1stepup61

Re: when is it time for hospital

@Former-Member im reliving the trauma again and again. She made me tell the whole thing from start to finish in as much detail as i could incudibg touch smell and sight.
I tried breathing through it. No good at all.

Re: when is it time for hospital

You can get through this. I know you can.
Do you have prn? If so take some.
If not, go have a shower, get your pjs on and choose an activity to do. Be it coloring in, knitting, singing, etc etc. but when you do it focus on it completely. 100%
The roundness of the pencil, the colour it makes, how smooth it is etc. If it helps, say it out loud, everything, every little aspect of that activity. The way you back hits the chair, your feet on the ground.
I promise if you do this, concentrate on it as hard as you can it will help.

Im too tired to do anything else now
Ill go take a prn too
And find something mindful to do

If @Zoe7 or @Sans911 they might help with turning negative into positives
