@outlander
You gotta do what you gotta do.
If you felt uncomfortable doing dbt in a group scenario then it's a good idea to knock it back.
It was the best thing to do @outlander and you must not forget that.

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander,If you aren't comfortable don't.To me my shit is personal. The only thing is it might have been good for you to get support and possibly make friends,we are isolated by our mental illness and you are good here with everyone.I think I'd be more depressed listening to everyone else.As said,I don't like Mental Health at the hospital because of the Case Management Approach. And one made me repeat myself to her superior and that to me is unprofessional,a client shouldn't be put in that position, and the trust wasn't there with either of them.

When I go out,I like to go out in the community feeling normal.Do what is right and what's comfortable for you.👤

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander I know I'm going against others advice, and you may not like what I'm going to say, but I really, really wish you hadn't done that. To me it feels like you didn't even try, and that might be a bit harsh, but it's such a good program that you may or may not get something very useful from. I'm not dissapointed, and I absolutely think no less of you and will respect your decisions, but I think you should a least try it a little. In the group I was in, there was a girl around your age, painfully shy, really hurting, lots of family issues, SH, hospitalised, and and for the first 2months we never heard her say more than a tiny whispered no. Now she's a lot more active in participating. There was some too that I refused to participate as well. You only share what you want to share, the facilitator shouldn't force you, but they may gently prompt you to, and you also never reveal a lot in the group of what's happening for you at home, as that's potentially triggering to other. They have fairly strict guidelines & assumptions that are read out each week. Even though I've deferred after 7months,and gone back on the wait list, it was simply to do with the fact I was really emotionally unregulated, and was so bad even the crisis skills weren't not helping. But I still use a lot of the skills I've learnt. I struggle big times with groups too, but I made an exception for this because of the benefits to me. Can you have a chat to your psychologist & see what they say? Maybe, like me, you can try again in a few months and go back on the wait list. Like I said already, you have to do what feels right for you, but perhaps this is right. Just my opinion lil Sis

in regards to the DBT THERAPY: @Sans911@Former-Member@MDT
they said that they will take me off the group therapy but will keep me in for individual therapy. i explained to them that when ive prgressed abit more with my therapist that i have now ill be open to group therapy but at the moment. it doesnt sit well with me and ive been told to do the things that feel right. at least for now so that i can remain that bit more stable so that i can start doing the trauma work.

ive been told DBT is really intense and was also advised by my therapist that becasue of its intenstiy to wait abit longer but when im having a few less bad days or not as bad as what they are at the moment then she wants to work with me with ther stuff in conjection with the DBT stuff as well.

so i kinda didnt make the decsion myself, and i did have a good think about things and had a good chat to my therapist and she has agreed that maybe now isnt the right time but its definently something that she wants to help with in conjunction with when the time comes.....

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander ahh, now see that's why you're such a clever young miss, but now I kinda feel like a stern old Sis for giving you a rollicking without checking the facts. But you've done your homework over this, very, very sensible indeed, and again I'm so proud of you for sounding things out. Yes, DBT can be intense at times, and yes, you are unregulated with your emotions all over the place right now, so the individual therapy is better right now as you can talk this out. That's partly why I deferred my DBT group, as I had no individual therapy, and I couldn't resolve or deal with everything coming at me. I'm waiting on a public therapist, but it will still be a couple of months or more. You are making some real progress @outlander even though life is difficult and messy still. But you definitely seem clearer and at times less reactive to things. Keep going

Re: when is it time for hospital

@Sans911 im not a clever anything. im just trying to figure out whats right whats not. confusing.

anyway i didnt fnd anything wrong with what you said. i probably wouldve said the same thing without the facts.

after i wrote that i thought maybe i jumped way to quick into saying no and sat and thought about what id said and what my therapist has said etc and realsied that we werent even expecting this for another 6 montth yet.

i ended up ringing her and getting her advice on what i shouldve done and she agreed that right now isnt the right time but its something to do later in the recovery stage.

thanks @Former-Member sometimes id rather run. i think ive had enough running.

shite really hit the fan this morning. i really blew my top. maybe not the right thing to do but i guess thats what happens when being under pressure and being the main suppor person for every bloody one yet no one wants to be ther for me when i need them.

ive really fliped it, ive caused so much tension in the house but i said the things that no one wanted to believe or say to eahc other. mum would argue to me about pop and her bf, then id cop it off pop about those 2 then i would cop it off mums bf because mum wouldnt talk to me. i really had it, really pushed me over the edge after pop ahd a go at me at something mum did so i sat them all down and i really blew my top. it takes alot for me to do that and yes im paying the price now but i cant handle it. i cant handle being the middle person anymore and honestly i dont think its worth it.

i told them to work out all their crap and pay your damn share of the bills.

i havent blown my top as yet about them constantly being on my case when i work 2 jobs, study, charity work AND im expected to watch the kids. but no im lazy and dont do anything and they have to do it all on their days off.

mums bf is off today and what ahs he done since being up? HIS load of washing and thats it!

sorry for the rant im just really over it all
