@outlander I can certainly imagine that right now 4-6 months feels like FOREVER, but in the big scheme of life it isn't. I subscribe to the newsletter of the Australian BPD foundation and I happened to just be reading it. This video was in it and it made me think of you.

@eth yes not what i was expecting . i was expecting her to jsut sit thre and say yeah i agree with th psychiatrist see ya later. but i did questionaires to confirm them. they were very extensive questionaires!
they didnt really give me too much advice, more on what services they offer- the four ive put my name down for is 1. the DBT individual therapy. 2. DBT group therapy and 3. weekly phone calls to help monitor me. 4. keep in contact with my other health professionals so if and when i go abck in there they are already up to date with me.
she said im still abit concened whether the hospital stay was long enough for you but since your out and your ok and not making any attempts its ok to stay out unless that changes.
she told me to keep using my coping strategies that do work or me, go against my thoughts and do the things i would still usually enjoy. keep at it with the weekly gp visits, keep healthy so what ive been doing, make sure i get enough sleep, and keep at it with the psychologist as well
oh and confirmed the complex PTSD as well. almost forgot lol- dont worry itll never let me forget. @Phoenix_Rising
also @eth you dont ahve to be sorry for anything. you ahve to take care of you first. i hope your new meds can help with that as well ![]()

@Shaz51
heres where we were talking about it before
i went to see a psych team today to get an assessmet done on personality and anxiety disorders.
they confirmed my GAD, Depression and complex PTSD, and also told me i have Health Anxiety (kinda new that just needed to be officially diagnosed) and i also have borderline BPD. i wasnt quite prepared for that.

@outlander The BPD diagnosis? When I was diagnosed I experienced it as hugely validating and a relief to know there was a name for the things I struggled with. It allowed me to then go and read everything I could about BPD (this was pre-internet) and thus gain a much stronger understanding of why I struggle in the ways that I do.
I am interested to know how they arrived at a diagnosis of complex trauma AND BPD. Did the person explain why they would give you both of those diagnoses? The diagnostic criteria for them are extremely similar and there is a debate in the literature as to whether they are actually the same thing (which is the view I hold). Thus I am curious as to what symptoms they attribute to BPD and what symptoms they attribute to complex trauma.

Hello Claire
@outlander,
The truth for me is I never have processed any of the titles, I couldn't even tell you which ones are offical! For some people diagnosis is helpful, for me it wasn't. I've only ever had one Doctor even try to explain the physical side to me, the tremors, nausea and breathing problems. Explaining that the spine and central nervous system is part of the brain . . . and that's how obvious physical reactions can occur. The rest I've looked up online. I've had a couple of phsyc's fob me off to others, that just felt like I was put into the too hard basket - at the time it really didn't help. I'd been managing 40-45 years on my own, so I guess, no . . . I know, I choose to manage on my own now. But I have put that down to the fact that I left it too long, like you, my Father didn't believe in neurobiological disorders, he just expected people to 'get over themselves'. I truly believe, that by getting help, your doing the best thing you can. Perhaps part of processing it, is learning about it. Sorry if I'm no help![]()

Outlander,health anxiety is just a fancy term for them saying you are a hypochondriac,which we all are to an extent,last year's I had a dentist who wanted to pull a tooth,it was my birthday,so I didn't want it done that day and shit scared because I never had a tooth out,and was worried about my appearance.Plus my severe depression and anxiety made it worse.He didn't say what was wrong,I assumed it must've had a hole he couldn't fill.For six months I couldn't go back and I lived on painkillers because I had pain there like nerve pain,and feared a absess.I then rang another dentist,six months later because I thought I would need the gas to relax me.He couldn't see why I needed it out(I'd like five minutes with the other dentist for stress).I grind my teeth in my sleep.I had health anxiety.No different to bringing up food with anxiety.Is the others
Generalised Anxiety/severe depression?
Bipolar Personality Disorder?
As someone like Niqeeta who's been through it,don't live by these labels.It is a extremely vulnerable experience when you go through this process,and at the end of the day no one is right,and like all foundations of psychology and psychiatry,it is all based on theories,you on the other hand can determine what you have and haven't got tomorrow.👣
