Re: when is it time for hospital

Anxiety is a b**** outlander.I have brought food up for years.When I read your first post tried to eat soup,ended up in the toilet,then tried to eat toast,back on the plate.Used to eat a lot of fruit,now cannot due to knowing I can't digest it, knowing I can't keep it down.Watermelon is the only fruit I can eat mostly.

The medication can do it too, especially with changes in drugs etc.

Dazedansis ,it sounds interesting to explain human behavior.I read a comment the other day that someone stated suicide is selfish,I got angry.Depends on your circumstances,I don't have kids,and if I SC it will be a well thought out process,and it's my decision.Your book explains a neighbor telling me to ",suck it up",years ago, made me feel 10 x worse for my failures.

I made a appointment to see the doctor in the morning ,bit like you tonight outlander,don't know if I should be wasting his time,and don't want to get distressed and go out to a waiting room of people etc.I refuse to take antidepressants but will discuss the option of getting something to calm me down as I have had extreme times of anxiety,past few weeks as I have said.I mostly just feel I need to check in with someone but feel a idiot at the same time.Basically I feel a waste of space.

@Former-Member
yes Niqua, being human is quite a big downfall now isnt it
no im not really bully proof nor bullet proof. I dont think I can just forget about what happened, it was very distressing only last week. And no I dont think the gastro bug is helping, but do you know whats funny it doesnt stick around it only lasts for few hours every so often and not continuous so maybe its not gastro but maybe something else. I thought it would be ok to meantion hospital. But at the moment I cant even meantion it and it triggers my anxity off.

@Former-Member
im sorry your struggling quite abit too. I hope things ease up for you too. Thank you for both of those explanations out of the books, seems like a pretty insightful book. Might look into buying it myself but when my heads not all over the place. Unfortunatley talking or reading about mental health issues is yet another trigger for me- which is super crappy I know.

Yeah I agree with you @Former-Member anxiety is shite! Its making me sick and I thought I mightve been better but wow I didnt expect it to come to a point like it did today. Abt dissapointed in myself really.
I think the medications that im on are helping me except my new one which last night gave me nightmares, made me restless and so a bad night for sure. Hopefuuly it doesnt happen again tonight.
I think its good that your going to the gp, its not a waste of time at all. Esp when your in a bad place , thats when you need it the most.

outlander ,if you keep getting nightmares and you think it's this drug,talk to your GP.I had reaction to two antidepressants,the first one gave me awful nightmares,and when I took it it was"goodnight,see you next year!".Made me sleep the clock around plus other things.Nightmares is a negative reaction.
Thanks outlander,don't know been there sooo many times .I don't want to go there I have been trying to cope on my own,but know the past fortnight in particular I have got to the same place as last year.
I know I am slipping away.

Re: when is it time for hospital

@outlander

It actually isn't aimed at mental health entirely - that is one section of it. The way he talks about mental health is a way that is extremely relatable and reassuring definitely not having support.. Then realising that them making comments about how we are this or that, actually makes them more selfish at the end of the day as they are doing whatever in possible ability to make themselves feel better. Because dismissing someone who needs serious help because they have been miserable and got over it is like dismissing someone who's had to have their arm amputated because they once had a papercut. Mental health is not logical. Those who describe suicide and depression as selfish apparently struggle with this concept, as if those with depression make a table or chart with pros and cons of suicide and, despite there being more cons and possible no pros, selfishly opt for suicide anyways.Nonsensical.

It also touches on subjects lightheartedly. Like why you may wonder into a room.. then suddenly forgeting why you just wondered there. Neurologically explaining the processes actually going on and how intellectual but stupid it is. He is a comedian so there are a lot of chuckles in the midst of it all.

Glad you found interest @Former-Member and @soul

Re: when is it time for hospital

im going to try them for tonight and see if its any better, i know some tablets take abit of getting into the system to see the full effects so it might take a few days to get it right. @Former-Member

when i took a look at the tablets and side effects- they are suppose to be used for people over 55!!!! im no where near 55 and im taking that same dosage as whats been prescribed for aged people. so i dunno. i guess i jsut have to roll with it for now.

i really hope you go to that gp appointment Li1. i thinks its important at this stage, and your not wasting their time or a waste of space. i get not being understood and stared at in the waiting room though. its very confronting but you shouldnt have to walk out of every gp appointment like that. you should be able to come out of there with some sort of plan. and your not alone- you have all of us here

Re: when is it time for hospital

oh ok thats a really good way to write about MH and the effects etc @Former-Member

its very clever that to be able to have the talent to put the point across but be able to have a giggle along the way.

Re: when is it time for hospital

He is very clever to be able to have that comedic relief between not so serious matters but also the serious topics.. From why you remember someone's face over their name to the seriousness of mental illness and how people may react and think is wrong.

Sane forums is messing up with me tonight and won't let me like anyone's comments but please know that mentally I am.

Only ever wish you the best with your whole journey and then also the trials with dealing with your Mother and her boyfriend and everything beyond.

It was my first time reading a book in probably 3 years (yup... oh my.. ) As I too, due to poor concentration and difficult times that I haven't had enough time for my brain to just stop for a second and read.. I still struggle with it, you know? But I love non-fiction only because logically I can't find any reason to read fiction. I love furthering my knowledge and understanding of subjects with real testamonies or science... and anything in between. Mostly in science and the brain particulary. The brain is something so complex and something that scientists still to this day, do not have complete understand of. There are theories of way neurons are connected or how chemicals may affect the brain in how they are released and connected here and there.. But then there are other factors which are obviously realised as there are, for example, so many different medications for the same diagnosis's.. definitely in mental health. SSRI's for example may help in increasing serotonin and stopping other chemicals from cutting out the chemical or getting rid of it in certain processes.. but then other SSRI's act differently for different affects. And different medications may work for different people. Someone could react positively to an SSRI but another person may react negatively. It's all in context.

That is why I choose to read brain books in oarticular I guess because just to have limited understanding of something so complex.. is completely incredible and intriguing to learn
