Hi @outlander
I know what you are talking about - I suffered physical abuse from my mother when I was small - and I turned on her - and as I got older she was into verbal and emotional abuse
So I have worked out that I am partly the person I am because I would not stand for her bitterness - and I am sure she was very unhappy and insecure herself - and she did have a pretty rotten childhood - and maybe it helped her to feel better but being rough on her first two children
The reality is that I have forgiven her for her cruelty and she had many regrets before she died
That kind of abuse is not the same as sexual abuse from men - which is degrading and really takes it out on a woman's self-esteem - but when we overcome what has been done to us - we do become better people
It's interesting that you ask - you don't know what kind of person you would have been without that abuse - I have thought the same - I think we do become better people - more kind, considerate, compassionate, understanding - and we help others -
It's a hard way to get to be so good - really caring - but the world needs people who have been through the toughest of lemony-times and made some kind of something good - ah - I heard that on TV a couple of weeks ago and I really like to look at life that way
