Coping Box

Coping Box

Hi Guys,

My psychologist came up with an awesome idea to help me when I'm feeling urges to SH or suicidal or if I'm having a hard time coping.

It's called a Coping Box. You get a box and put things in that are helpful to you. So I have a good book, a disney movie, pictures of my pets and animals. It's also got some puzzles, a stuffed toy and a video game.

So @NikNik and I thought it'd be good to make one here for members. We can put in photos and quotes and all sorts of good things to help remind what we are fighting for.

I'm gonna put in some caramello koalas, and my favourite fuzzy blanket so you can wrap yourself up at feel cozy and safe.

I will also throw in a 'hug'. So if you ever need a hug, come over here and I'll be waiting and ready with a hug and ready to listen.

Hello @Faith-and-Hope

When I am having a blah day,, the trouble is my husband usually doesn`t have a Blah day the same day as me

which is hard because I usually have to keep going even though I DON`t want to

Yeah, that is hard @Shaz51 ..... but you generally have a great up-beat attitude that pulls you through .... you're an inspiration .... ❣

Hello @Faith-and-Hope, thank you for your message xx

I can`t take the credit as My mum has always had the attitude that pulls you through .... and has passed it on to me

How has your day been xx

Re: Coping Box

My mum was a treasure too @Shaz51. I was really blessed with that ....

My day was good mostly, but have had a bit of a junked up evening ....

My WH was agitating earlier, and I got to the point of a melt-down, which he treated off-hand, then a short time later asked to speak to me, on a completely different subject, as if the whole issue before hadn't even happened ....

No point wasting my breath raising it with him .... nothing to be gained from it, and more to lose ....

:face_with_rolling_eyes: 😠😡 ....

So here I am on Coping Box .... coping ..... 😏

Good morning @Faith-and-Hope xx

I have learnt over time there is No point wasting my breath raising it with him as well , I have to pick my time -- I don`t know if this is right to do but it keeps the peace xx

I sure my mum worries about me , she doesn`t say much but I can feel it

My Hubby , I think is getting annoyed that i am on the computer ,

I have a few different projects which I am involved in at the moment, which my mum is very happy about , lots of writting and saving information

Re: Coping Box

In my coping box - I think I'd add a clock. So I can try and make sure I'm looking after sleep. Regular bed time. Regular wake time. That is the plan anyway. Starting tomorrow.
This will have a good flow on effect with regards to my depression and anxiety. And hopefully reduce my 'down' times.
Oh & something soft to snuggle with in bed. A definite.

Re: Coping Box

I would add my journals to a coping box: I don't read them often but they are a record of how far I've come in the last couple of years. I would add a few of my favourite toys: my giraffe because he's got really big expressive eyes and my elephant because he's soft like my dog. The phone number of the 24 hour counselling line that is always available to me. My big plastic kids' block because I find building things with them really soothing and distracting. My dog, because she's always there for me.

@Faith-and-Hope I saw your post pointing to this thread in the morning thread. What a good idea.

Im adding cross stitch, even though it's hard to concentrate on while struggling, it's a break from thoughts. 💞💞

Re: Coping Box

🤗💕 @Maggie .......

Even if you only manage 10 stitches, they can be 10 calming stitches ..... 10 holding-onto-something stitches ...... 10 challenging or redirecting thoughts stitches ..... or 10 taking-a-time-out stitches .......

Anything that can contribute to self-care, self-soothing, self-nurturing ..... and sometimes it’s just in the looking at it that achieves a redirection ...... ❣️

I would love to see this thread added to.

💐💕

Exactly @Faith-and-Hope 10 stitches of achievment some days is that tiny step forward.
