The Highlight of Your Day thread

The Highlight of Your Day thread

I thought it might be nice to have a place to share the highlight of your day (even if it's found in a fleeting moment) 🙂

For me today, the highlight of my day was finishing the most annoying round of crochet in a blanket I have been working on for months. This round has taken me so long and I've found it so frustrating that I didn't think I would ever finish the project. Stitch by (incredibly frustrating) stitch it came together. Super excited to get to change colours and start the next round now!

Looking forward to hearing anyone else's highlights 🙂

Hi @CheerBear

Thank you for the concept++++++

I certainly understand the crochet thing, well done for solving the problem. I have always loved how soothing crochet can be and inherited the craft from an incredibly creative great Aunt. She would envisage images such as flowers and then work the stitches out to suit. I have a few pieces of her work that I will always treasure. She never recovered from the sudden death of her husband and back in those days was labeled as senile. I fully believe that she sufferd from complex grief for many years beofre I even met her. I still admire a woman who took her story to the Dandenong ranges on her own and kept on going. I hope that I have some of her characteristics.

And now for me..... the utter highlight of my day was to have a very seriously complex grieving and depressed client (perhaps that is why I am reminiscing) finally disclose her fears to me. The horror of the thought of going mad, the horrror of the thought of losing her mind and having dementia. I have been so aware that underlying fears were contributing to her condition - today was the right day for the client. The client and I now have a stronger working relationship and the sense of relief was palpable. From here, there is now a high likelihood of recovery although it may take a very long time.

Being able to provide assurance that it is the depression and anxiety that are neuroligically casing the distress matters. As many of us know (including me) get smacked with prolonged and repeated depression destroys your thinking, your concentration, your memory, your planning and your identity.

Lotsa luv Bast

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Hi @Bast - sounds like you would have picked up some great crochet tips from your aunt. How special to have her work to keep. I too find crochet very soothing (most of the time)! What a wonderful highlight from yesterday 😊

Hi @ash111 - nice to 'meet' you and welcome 😊

I forgot to share yesterday's highlight. It was that I tasted Rose's strawberry conserve for the first time. It. Is. Amazing. So amazing that even with a very sore mouth I pushed myself to suck on some scones I baked just so I could keep tasting it 😁 I love the Rose's lime marmalade, but this is better!

The highlight for me today was that the weather was nice enough to have the doors and windows open letting fresh air through the house all day (a rare thing lately)

Looking forward to reading some more highlights tonight hopefully

Hi @Ash11 @dragonfly @CheerBear @outlander

Fantastic and ymmo jam and scones story - so sorry your mouth is sore I hope that you can get that one sorted soon. Wow cheerbear are you my long lost sibling - i can't make scones but fully get the sore mouth - just gotta luv years of dental absces and really stuffed teeth and gums. Way too scared and worried about the $$$ of the rip 'em out process as the current problem is right at the front of my lower set. It simply will not be a good look.

Ash11 I am so glad you have found this forum sanctuary too - always supportive, kind and understanding. And....the most important thing is you actually get listened too. Very rare in today's worls.

Dragonfly - vision stuff is incredibly scary - good on you. After years of hiding from the fact that I really couldn't see anything that wasn't in my face, including street signs etc. I am now the proud owner of 4 sets of glasses - bit of a differnet take on the world.

And now for Bast - I need to cheat a little the achievemt that really matters is I faced up to the hairdresser yesterday and did the deed. she was lovely - and I have a good result, I just don't do well with the mirror aspect, she understood as best as anyone would. Post the 'do' I walked out feeling better as I am not as ungroomed or scruffy. Tomorrows achievement will be dealing with the ghastly mess of leftover red, tracks and greys - what fun. However I know this will help.

Take care all Bast

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

The highlight of my day was that I got really positive feedback about how I marked the assignments (for those who don't know, I just had my first attempt at marking a bunch of assignments for a university subject). The lecturer told me that the grades I had awarded were consistent with what the students had received in other assignments for the subject. This is a real confidence boost for me as I was agonizing over whether I was being horribly mean or something. But nope, apparently I did a good job. Just as well, given that the pay is based on the premise that each assignment will take twenty minutes to mark, and each one actually took me 2-3 hours. Partly that was because this was a brand new adventure for me, but partly it was because my concentration is so amazingly poor, I have to re-read the same thing over and over again to process it. Oh well, hopefully some day I'll figure out how to fix my brain so that I can actually concentrate. Doing the marking was a valuable learning experience and it was just nice having a sense of purpose for a little while. Hopefully some more work will come my way.

That is a super cool higlight @Phoenix_Rising! Well done 😄

My highlight today was something little - my bright rainbow umbrella 🙂 It was so nice to add some bright colour to what was otherwise a very miserable, grey, rainy, cold walk to school this afternoon.
