The Highlight of Your Day thread

The Highlight of Your Day thread

I thought it might be nice to have a place to share the highlight of your day (even if it's found in a fleeting moment) 🙂

For me today, the highlight of my day was finishing the most annoying round of crochet in a blanket I have been working on for months. This round has taken me so long and I've found it so frustrating that I didn't think I would ever finish the project. Stitch by (incredibly frustrating) stitch it came together. Super excited to get to change colours and start the next round now!

Looking forward to hearing anyone else's highlights 🙂

@Former-Member - I had a big smile reading your highlight. Something in me tells me you've got this Teej and it's so great to hear you were able to know this and tell yourself it today 🙂

@Shaz51 - we had a pj day together! Nice to hear you got some rest today.

@Former-Member - so special to hear an owl!

@Sans911 - hi and nice to 'meet' you! The first part of your day sounds so nice! I haven't been around here for that long (I joined under a different name back in Feb I think) but it feels like I've been here for ages now. I remember feeling very much like an intruder or like I was interrupting here when I first came. Some really lovely people helped me feel welcome (pretty much everyone here) and @Mazarita reminded me that joining in is not 'interrupting' it is 'contributing'. The coffee thread is a great place to hang out and say hi to people, espeially to start with, if you're not sure where to post or have a chat 🙂

I too have had a couple of highlights today. Coming on here and finding people sharing and celebrating highlights is one! Another was definitely our garden today, which gave us juicy big lemons for pancakes and heaps of fresh herbs for herb dumplings tonight. While I was in the garden I noticed carrot and lettuce seeds I planted have really taken off, and broccolini and bok choy seedlings I put in a while ago have also grown huge. Can't wait to chomp into them! 😊

Well done for getting through the patch of anxiety @Former-Member , and to you too @Sans911 for going out to the market and dealing with the new housemate.

Hi @Shaz51 That's good that you had a rest day.

Highlight of my day - I went out to skate a bit this morning even though it would've been easier not to.

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Hi all, great to read different highlights today.

The highlight here was, once again, being at my friend's flat, watching over the place while she is away (she told me it was fine to hang out in her absence). Today, as with other days I've been there, I was talking to the several currawongs that hang around her backyard through the day. As some of you know, I love the currawongs around here. And yes, I am one of those crazy bird ladies who talks and whistles at birds. I recommend it! Quality thinking time at my friend's place too. Walked there down the beach, about 2km. All good!

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Didn't get interrupted much at work, so I got through the long thing I'd been trying to work on. (Ok well, really I just gave up on being perfectionistic about it, but I kept finding things I'd missed... And they probably weren't even important things, but they seemed important... But given the amount of times I'd gone through it, I think I've got a pretty good chance of it being correct now... Maybe... Possibly... Whatever! )

Proper highlight though, someone brought in some cake 🙂

@Mazarita sounds like you had a nice time yesterday. I had a pet bird as a kid, and I'd always whistle with it. But I can't whistle properly. Who knows what sort of rude things I was probably saying in bird language!

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Hi @TheVorticon, I mainly just talk in English to the birds. Except when I try to whistle, which I'm no good at. Or I can do it just a little... sometimes. Yes, I wonder if I'm putting them off their territorial understandings when I mimic the currawong calls. Cool that you got through a long thing at work and were able to get over being a perfectionist about it. I relate to that. And to the 'whatever', there comes a point for that too. Cake sounds good, wonder what flavour.

Highlight today has been another beach walk to friend's place to collect mail and hang out. Her place is cool with or without her and I'm not missing her as much for getting to be there while she's away. We had been spending time together every day before she went away. Currawongs were out in the yard again but not so much as yesterday. They have a bit of a feed from the avocados that drop from her back tree.

Hope to read more today highlights from others too.

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Tonight I am coming past because despite this being not a particularly high up on the list of great days, day, there was a highlight.

I picked up my new glasses today 🙂 I don't like the look of them on me yet but I think that's because I was so used to what I looked like in the last pair, and I was very sad to say goodbye to my seriously funky glasses. But one pair has secret zebra stripes in them and the other pair (I have one for most of the time/all the time, and a reading pair) has what looks like cool screw things on the side. Kind of like a little hint of steampunk happening. So they're still kind of cool. Most importantly, and I will try to remember this when I catch a glimpse of them in a mirror, is that I can now actually see properly and the world is a whole lot less blurry, and seeing is kind of more important than trying to make glasses cool I suppose 😛

Re: The Highlight of Your Day thread

Good morning, @CheerBear. Glad you could find a highlight even on a not so good day. Glasses are great in my book. I wish I still had the 20/20 vision of my younger years but, on the other hand, I've always liked the look of me in glasses and feel oddly 'safer' around other people when I have glasses on. Go figure with that last thing, social anxiety in action I guess. Anyway, glad you have some new ones that improve the vision. That's definitely the best thing about glasses!
