taking a break

taking a break

Hi Everyone

Ive come to the decision that i may need to take a break from the forums or at least just stick to my safe threads such as this one and my garden thread.

ive read quite a few confronting things on here, it not the people, its the stories of what theyve been though, its set off quite a few things for me and just reminds me of what a tragic world we live in.

i know there is great support on here but i dont think i can handle it at the moment. im at the stage where i think a hospital might be better for me to go to. i know mant of you have been or go to the there still so no matter how embarrassed i am about being young and having to go to get thigns sorted out, i know ive got plenty of butterflies flying around me.

if only i had supports off this forum but i think i need a break. i dont think i can help many people as much as id love to and i feel extremely bad for not being able to help but i guess i just need to limit abit more of what im doing.

as most of you know uve been through a fair bit and still going through it all and alot of things im dealing with on my own.

i dont know what to do anymore, it feel likes i cant trust anyone anymore, ive lost hope for quite alot of things including my mental health gettitng better and even at this point questioning it so much that i dont even know if its real now. i think id rather just hide away.

i havent been able to leave the house today and even said no to a ride on my horse and to me thats alarms bells ringing. so i think i just need to take a break and although everyone on here id the best and the only support i have so, its a probaby a stupid mvoe to make but i thing i just need to refresh myself and force myself to get up and do something and start trying to get my life straightened out abit.

starting with either going to hospital or getting in to see a therapist abit more to help me out abit more.

this isnt goodbye, i may still see you on here on my safe threads but i wont be around as much, while im not here ill be focussing on getting abit more help, working on my garden and my studies.

i hope you all understand

Re: taking a break

Hi @NotLabelDefined @Former-Member @utopia @Faith-and-Hope

You'll be pleased to know I managed to get in the car, drive to the beach (5 mins) and go for a 30 min walk. The water was calm, the sun is out and shining.

I am glad I managed to do that.

So now that I've done that am I supposed to 'feel better' because SH thoughts still in back of my head.

Hi @BlueBay,

Thats awesome, glad to hear you are pleased that you made the decision to go for a drive and walk, and enjoyed it.

the drive and walk might have given you a chance to focus on other things, apart from your SH thoughts. do you have any other activities to do? do you find activities give you temporary relief?

@NotLabelDefined

I have lots and lots to do with moving house - but - I just can't. I can't get to a box and pack it is bringing back a lot of negative memories, thoguths and that;'s why i want to SH.

I have my own topic under "not feeling good" if you want to have a read. It's just too hard to cope with. And SH is an easier option.

Re: taking a break

Hi @BlueBay,

this might sound silly, but it might help...

are you able to imagine yourself packing one of the boxes?

which box have you decided to pack?

is the box in the same room as you?

what are you putting into the box (or going to put in the box)?

have you got any tape ready to tape it up (or maybe you will fold the corners over each other and not use tape?

do you think you will feel better once a box has been packed?

Re: taking a break

I know which cupboard i want to start with @NotLabelDefined. It has lots of photos in there, ok maybe that isn't a good idea. Maybe I will start to pack ornaments on our shelves. I don't know, I feel that leaving this house and moving, as much as it is good for me to do, it is the end of my relationship with my parents.

It's the final straw. There will be no more ties to them. It's final. The end.

And all that is too painful 😞

Re: taking a break

Hi @BlueBay,

are the photos very sentimental to you? I understand you might wish to leave them for now, especially seeeing you are finding it painful at the moment.

like you say, it might be good to pack something else...it might get the ball rolling 😉

sounds like you're going through some massive changes in life, I can see how it might be difficult.

where abouts are you planning on moving to?

Re: taking a break

ok i think i know what im doing everyone

im just going to limit what i do for now at least until i can get myself sorted out abit. im going to focus more of my studies and sticking to the threads that im already on but maybe reduce a few as well

i like being on here so i dont really want to leave

Re: taking a break

Hi @Former-Member. As you know, I am working at not getting too hooked on the forums. One of the things I've found super helpful is that I've turned off ALL my notifications...except for the daily digest which sends me all the likes and posts I've been tagged in, in one email per day. So I only get one email from SANE each day. I have also unticked the "email me when someone replies" box. I have found having the notification symbol now appearing on the laptop super helpful (yay to @NikNik and/or clever IT people for making that happen). This means when I'm on the forum I can respond to tagged posts in real time, and when I'm off the forum, I really do leave Forum Land behind. I think I was getting drawn in too much by the email notifications. Now when I'm in Forum Land, I'm fully here, and when I'm not in Forum Land I am fully...well...not here.

Re: taking a break

@BlueBay @NotLabelDefined Hello, with moving I'm not sentimental myself, normally, but have relatives who are and one good trick I've learnt is to start with the physically larger things to decide to chuck, donate, or keep. Then it's a matter of playing an album of very scary music (wouldn't recommend if you feel the need to self-harm but let me know and I'll find something) and in that hour sort through a shelf into those 3 piles. Don't worry too much about the chuck pile because you can always go through it at the end of all the packing if you want to retrieve it.

Hope that helps! I've moved 6 times in the past decade and have still managed to accumulate a lot of clutter each time. It's not until the pile of letters I find that I simply dread a move. My most recent one had letters I wrote to myself with full blown psychosis which was very difficult to process. I don't know whether I should keep all the love-letters either but I suppose I'm not that heartless just yet.

The coin trick is great advice! I've never thought of it that way. It sounds like @Former-Member's decided. Best of luck!
