Loss and Grief

Loss and Grief

@utopia

It is the upcoming anniversary of my Pop's death which I was reminded of by the anniversary of a death for someone else. It has brought back alot of memories and grief.

Combining that with some other stuff in 'the real world' - I haven't known what to do or where to go. It really felt like I was on my own and really alone again. I haven't coped with any of it at all well.

Re: Loss and Grief

Welcome to the forums @Adge, sorry about your dad. Anniversaries still nock me round - I lost a teenager - we never get over it. You be kind to yourself (self compassion, self care, little moments for you each day), plenty at this time. There's a few grief threads here if you go to the search bar. xox

Re: Loss and Grief

Tawney,

Thanks so much for your warm welcome, I appreciate it.

Yes anniversaries are really difficult, I'm only recently coming to realise that. Especially my Dad's.

I might go in search of those other grief threads that you mentioned - It's been hard to find opportunities or support, to share experiences (or thoughts) about losing someone close.

Re: Loss and Grief

Hi again @utopia @Mazarita

I have a bit of a dilemma and thought it best to discuss here. Hope that is ok by both of you - it's a thread that is a bit distanced from our normal ones.

Re: Loss and Grief

I need your advice on something @utopia @Mazarita

I am feeling a bit 'suffocated' at the moment and I think it is adding to my anxiety.

Any advice from either of you?

Re: Loss and Grief

Sorry, @Zoe7, replied to you in the other thread. Here now and listening...

Re: Loss and Grief

@Zoe7, it's a hard one to talk about in a way... let me think for a little bit.

Yes @Mazarita it really is!

Re: Loss and Grief

Yes @Zoe7. You need to be honest with her. It may temporarily hurt her feelings - but then she will be supported by others like f&h & will learn that everyone needs space. And not one person can provide everything to you.
Shaz & f&h closed the conversation quickly and then you posted the link to suzannes thread. So she will learn. But honesty is better than her worry about why you aren't around.
Can you say you just need time without having to be a support for anyone else. Remind again you don't want to be tagged into posts.

Re: Loss and Grief

I knew you would know exactly what I was talking about @utopia

Sometimes it is so quick for a 'nice' conversation to turn and that has a ripple effect. I have had enough issues on here lately and I was just staring to feel comfortable again - but I am feeling on edge again - like there is always a 'crisis' right around the corner and I don't want to be 'dragged' into it. I am also starting to lose touch with my closest 'friends' because I am avoiding being here - and that does make me sad.
