Loss and Grief

Loss and Grief

@utopia

It is the upcoming anniversary of my Pop's death which I was reminded of by the anniversary of a death for someone else. It has brought back alot of memories and grief.

Combining that with some other stuff in 'the real world' - I haven't known what to do or where to go. It really felt like I was on my own and really alone again. I haven't coped with any of it at all well.

Re: Loss and Grief

@Zoe7, @utopia, perhaps zoe could repost the list in a new thread for tomorrow and add the words about not wanting to be tagged in posts for a while as a personal statement in general...

Re: Loss and Grief

I thought about that one already @utopia just haven't got the wording right yet.

I have also been discussing the thread titles and including 'trigger' warnings. Something like this:

  • Trigger Warnings –My suggestion is for certain ‘triggers’ to be added to the ‘glossary’ of terms and abbreviations so the warnings are not as confronting eg. Sexual Abuse = SA
  • So the title of the thread could be something like eg.

My Story SA PA EA SH

(this shows the reader that there is content that involves sexual abuse, physical abuse, emotional abuse and Self Harm)

Re: Loss and Grief

I have been working with NikNik on a few things - and this is one of them - so I better run it past her first @Mazarita We were going to connect earlier this week but I haven't been up to it - as you know - so I hope she is around tomorrow to send it to her.

Re: Loss and Grief

@Zoe7. For someone like me with a shite memory or no history of DV or other trauma - the glossary would need to be easily accessible.
I wonder if that would make it harder for new members to understand or to find certain posts. Thinking out loud here.
Could a simple word like Abuse suffice? No I guess not as DV & SA are different topics.
Don't think my brain is going to offer any great insights into this topic at this hour.
As such I'm off to bed. I'll say good night on the other thread.

Re: Loss and Grief

Yeah @utopia did think about that also - would atart to get quite complex. Ideally having a drop-down box where things could be highlighted and then they are added to the thread title as abbreviations would be great

Re: Loss and Grief

Great idea the drop down box @Zoe7

Re: Loss and Grief

I still haven't worked this tagging people (into a conversation) out yet - since you were discussing tagging. I'll get there. I'm still trying to navigate my way around this site, which I find a bit confusing.

Re: Loss and Grief

@Adge
just put the @ symbol before the name of the person you want to tag or speak to. Just like I have done with your name above. No space between the @ symbol & the person's name. Happy tagging

Re: Loss and Grief

Thanks @utopia.

Yep, I'll get it.
