Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

This is a little project I did earlier this week, inspired by @Faith-and-Hope on one of the art threads, also @Appleblossom and Sherry, and some others on the Carers side.

The story "reads" left to right line by line as you would a book.

Some will "get it" some probably won't but nonetheless, it depicts my "black hole" story and everything in it is chosen or placed deliberately. It's supposed to be a side by side trilogy but in this format it's the three sequential pages so the pics in the collage can be seen.

It's a little scary posting it because it means something to me but well here it is anyhow.

Clearly my interest in having football in the house is very short lived/non-existent. It took about 10 mins for me to do the yeah, nah thing. Littles happy with the company which is good. I need that breathing space a bit today.

@Former-Member - is your partner away again now?

Hi @soul - nice to meet you. I am not sure we have met before but hi.

@Former-Member - 4 boys in 5 years?! Wow. That's all I have to say about that haha.

@Former-Member So this is about how much you participate in the footy viewing is it?

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

oh @soul one thing I do like about Dr Simon is he uses the term "character disturbance" rather than any of the traditional labels.. so his work and articles then read more objectively because he doesn't designate traditional DSM labelling to his insights and seminars. I think that is really important when trying to learn what we might or might not be dealing with, or even for people trying to learn about themselves.

Yes that's it. Only I am kind of less happy looking. More like this

@Former-Member - i used to be interested in it big time, but it's part of the old me that I am happy to let go of.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

@soul remember you used the term "gaslighting" in the CBT/Mindfulness session?

Here is a little excerpt and link to articles on that from Dr Simon:

"Manipulators and the “Gaslighting” Effect

It’s not easy to see the inherent aggression in the tactics manipulators typically use. So victims often experience what has come to be known as the “gaslighting” effect. Dealing with a skilled manipulator can make you feel crazy. You know in your heart there’s something not right about them. But their artful use of tactics has you thinking you have the problem. Manipulation (i.e. covert-aggression) is truly crazy-making behavior. (See also my other articles on gaslighting and the gaslighting effect.)"

hahaha @Former-Member maybe mine is just you saying "hi" to the littlies and guests, not really acknowledging the footy 😄

@Former-Member - had a little look at Dr Simon. Have had my quota of research for today. Having a break.

Re: Tooky History: Clipart but potentially triggering

understandable.. @soul specially if you have been reading that other book. 🙂 but when you recharge the gaslighting one/s is worth a look. But yeah, you need to be recharged for sure because he makes important points and if not in concentrating mood important stuff can be missed.
