Something’s not right

Have we been forgotten about?

Have we been forgotten about?

It feels that way. No one (psw) is around anymore. Not much from moderators.

what use to be such a lively, welcoming and supportive safe space, is…. I don’t even know what words to use. It even seems that people don’t have to be recovery focused anymore.

what has happened????

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

@EternalFlower It related to me being triggered by something in a post. I can’t remember the exact wording in reply I received. Wording was something about me needing to see psych (as example) and something about Sane not being right place for me

I’ve always found and received lot of support from members (eg peer support). When I joined Sane there was also a lot of support from a group of PSWs. Now there is almost no PSWs.

as I said on a different post. Peer support is great for lots of reasons. It’s impossible to support others when one’s own cup is fully drained and no PSWs providing support to forum members.

Found this ‘interest’ reading regarding supports on the forums

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

@Dimity, your breakdown of the funding model is absolutely spot on. Forcing people with complex, ongoing conditions into a time-bound "recovery" model just to catch funding pitches is not genuine care. Leaving a vulnerable community to "reverberate in our own space without compassionate interaction" is exactly what institutional isolation looks like. And it deeply concerns me that executive leadership and the CEO have stopped engaging on here.

@creative_writer @Bow, it makes sense why you feel like you're just floating or wanting to say goodbye. When guidelines are vague and automated-banning emails are sent out alongside human conversation, a space ceases to be a sanctuary.

@Flutterbug9, I am so incredibly angry on your behalf, reading the exact wording they used. And as you beautifully put it, it is completely impossible to support others when your own cup is fully drained, and it really does seem like the scaffolding that used to hold us up has been stripped away.

@EternalFlower, thank you so much for your immense bravery in sharing your lived experience, especially when going back over it feels traumatising. Your goal to express your distress and set firm boundaries is exactly what recovery looks like, and your advice that hyper-vulnerable people should step back until they are stronger is incredibly wise.

Even when the system is feeling cold and unsafe, the raw integrity, solidarity, and fierce care you all are showing for one another right now is what true trauma-informed peer support looks like.

I see every single one of you, I believe your experiences completely, and I am so deeply grateful to witness the way you protect and hold space for each other. Please keep prioritising your own well-being, your boundaries, and your healing above all else 💚

hi @Jynx thank you.
I am such an overthinker so there's always a reason not to get the cat. I guess it's pretty lame as I was always saying I'd get one and never did.

I'm glad tehy adapt well, and then I think if i live in a high-rise will it be okay, will it go on my balcony? I will have to do my best and cross those bridges when I get there. Your cats are very cute. I found the tortoiseshell a very quirky one, not sure if yours is also like that.

@EternalFlower never too late!

You can get this stuff called cat nets to keep them contained if you're worried about em on a balcony.

I hope the opportunity presents itself 😊

@Flutterbug9 that's an interesting document, altough tbh its a bit vague and open to interpreation.

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

Exactly @EternalFlower

Nothing is clear cut and concise

other item I find ‘interesting’ is psw having mentioned about catnet and nothing related to rest of this thread. Are things that have been said invisible to psw or mod? 100% rhetorical question

another place to look is https://www.petrescue.com.au/listings/search/cats

I found and adopted my 2 cats through that website

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

@Flutterbug9 no thats me lol i'm grateful for it, i asked that PSW how they were going in this thread and I absolutely started asking them about their cats, so they only responded to me. If you look back also I am very guilty as I shared pics of my own cat, Swiper, in the thread. Sorry i know it looks out of the blue, but its 100 percent because of me. @MatchaToad @Bow

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

@Flutterbug9 sorry i think i misread your post - i see what you're saying now. Very keen to read where you adopted your cats and to speak to u when I adopt mine hopefully soon!!!!

I am trying to think of a positive solution for this, I work a bit as a consumer representative at a hospital, and a group of us peers are able to feed back complaints and concerns abotu mental health treatment at the hospital. I think it would be beneficial for Sane to create more protections for the users here.

This feedback thread is 13 pages long

That in itself is potentially unprecedented for SANE. It's in the guidelines not to post negative feedback publicly

Re: Have we been forgotten about?

@DogMan79 i think general feedback is okay, and i've been warned to keep recovery focussed, so i have attempted to not simply drag sane but try and share lived experience as well as my proposed solutions and hopes.

Personally, this thread is kind of keeping me "sane" atm, in a situation that can sometimes feel a little destabilising.

if not for this thread, i would not have felt okay to come back, and would've internalsied tonnes of shame ,about how horrible i was. It felt like no one would hear me and that sane had all the power.
