Re: My silent battles
My psychiatrist has recently moved to area bit far from me @Blackcloud My pain management Dr (Dr MK) qualified as a psychiatrist prior to doing additional training for her current job. During one of my last days in hospital in early December Dr MK were chatting (Dr MK visits everyone one of her patients each evening they are in hospital) during which I mentioned I had changed psychologists. Dr MK asked a few questions prior to sharing their thoughts. Dr MK asked who my psychiatrist was. Upon saying I haven’t had one for more than 12mths, Dr MK told me the name of a new Clinic opening soon in town not far from me, a clinic through which 2 psychiatrists would be working but that no other info was known. That night I did some research. 2 very experienced female psychiatrists, bith having quite a substantial training and work history, one specialising in different areas than the other.
referral done by GP in mid December, approx 6weeks later I had heard nothing. I don’t do phones unless there is no other option. I sent an email enquiry about what was happening. Couple weeks later I had missed phone call plus couple emails from the psychiatrist containing apology, details of initial appointment, new patient information gathering questionaire and advise email is best option for me to make contact. Psychiatrist I saw few years ago had very short wait time and was total waste of time.
this psychiatrist sounds nice and very thorough already. Part of new patient questionaire asked for details of all current meds including vitamins. I accidently missed one when I did the questionnaire, emailed as soon as I realised plus asked if timeline of my past would be a benefit. Replay from psychiatrist included big thanks for both.
as I’ve said to few others people, I’d rather waiting for months to have appointment with psychiatrist who is good than almost no wait to see someone who, after 4 appointments, verbally confirmed everything I’d said in the previous year wasn’t listened to.
Im looking forward to continuing working with my new psychologist. Someone who has helped me feel confident to say what I want to talk about at the start of each appointment, who talks with me (as compared to talks at me which previous one used to do at times), who has me feeling I’m talking with a friend (not a MH specialist). Someone who already understands some of my quirks and takes no notice of them. With lot of people I feel very conscious and feel uncomfortable of way my brain works when I’m talking, with my psychologist I’m becoming less conscious and uncomfortable when it happens. I start talking about one thing and, all of a sudden, I’m got thoughts of multiple things in my mind at the same time, this results in my inability to easily have conversation on just one topic. Feel embarrassed at times as I have to completely stop talking, deep breathing whilst my mind calms down and thoughts become clear.
thing that makes me feel angry and/or frustrated at times is, I remember discussing and explaining this to MH specialist approx 20yrs ago who told me it was all due to brain trying to process grief. Thanks for nothing Dr
Following info from my best friend earlier today about the huge cost for combined autism adhd her adult son paid last year, I’ve been doing some more investigation into costs which has been a mistake. Out of pocket from 1,500 to 6,000, way too overwhelming. Constant headache due to disc degeneration lot worse than normal again today, which isn’t helping either
how are things with you?
how was your weekend and last week?

Hi @MatchaToad
unsure who else to ask.
What steps would you suggest, plus time line, if no response to email sent to forms email address regarding breach of community guidelines?

Hey @Flutterbug9
I appreciate you tagging me 💚
I hear that this thread has become quite overwhelming, if I'm not mistaken, and that you're seeking clarity on the next steps for community guidelines.
I know the forums are supposed to be moderated 24/7, but I'm not exactly sure when or which moderators are getting around. I do know that reporting a post/comment should flag it pretty quickly with them.
If it's been a couple of business days (say 2-3) and you haven't heard anything after sending that email, I'd try sending another follow-up email. I had to do this myself yesterday regarding my Peer Guide badge.
I'm sorry that I can't give more clarity or information, but I really hope someone higher up than me or someone with more knowledge about this jumps in.
In the meantime, it might be helpful to take a step back from this specific thread to give yourself some breathing space 💚

I will make a note to keep an eye on this however what @MatchaToad has mentioned seems like a good plan.
Self-care absolutely comes first and please take breaks as needed.

Re: My silent battles
Thanks @MatchaToad @Aegis
Only came onto this thread to post to you. Staying well clear otherwise.
I sent one email yesterday. Didn’t include the magic words of community guidelines. Mod did respond after few hrs and mentioned a quideline that doesn’t relate which I mentioned in my reply. This morning I’ve sent another email using specific wording and attached copy of the guideline I’m referring to. Next few days will be hectic for me. If no response by Saturday I will send another email.
thanks for reading and responding. 😺

@Flutterbug9
Thank you for the update. It sounds like you’ve handled that incredibly well, using the specific wording and attaching the relevant guidelines is such a clear, professional way to bridge that communication gap.
I’m glad to hear the mods responded quickly, even if there’s still some clarifying to do. Protect your energy, especially with a hectic few days ahead.
Wishing you a smooth rest of the week, and I hope you get a clear resolution soon! 💚

Re: My silent battles
Thanks @MatchaToad
To help put my focus onto something totally different I’m going to be working on a new thread, possibly on social space.
is an idea @Jynx mentioned during a chat with them.
thread where anyone will be welcome to share info about area/s they are passionate about but not felt able to share otherwise due to “general society views”
eg 2 areas I have is genealogy and model trains. I’m a very recently self assessed autistic who thrives on investigating things and searching for answers etc (something my psychologist has said is common within the autistic community)

@Flutterbug9
That sounds like a wonderful idea!
There is something really restorative about diving into the things we are passionate about, and I think many people, including myself, would value a dedicated space to share their special interests and passions without judgment 💚
Genealogy and model trains both sound like such intricate, fascinating hobbies; the amount of detail and history involved in both is incredible!
I’m looking forward to seeing the thread when you’ve set it up. It sounds like a lovely way for the community to connect over the things that truly light them up 💚
