Re: Thursday Coffee and Chat -- 22nd January 2026

@creative_writer change can be a challenge in the face of cultural norms.

I know nine parents, individuals that continue to update their skills.

Fathers have become hands-on and share domestic responsibilities. Both parents learning to name their emotions and sit with their feelings ( @Jynx ) Learned how to use Boundaries effectively.
In turn educating their children, as they adopt new skills.

I hope this leads to a larger and lasting social progress.

@PeppyPatti I just had my bone broth with dinner.

@Glisten my parents share domestic responsibility but my mum and dad don’t tell my paternal grandma about it, she wouldn’t be happy. My parents also struggle to sit with emotions and are super protective of me and my siblings, it feels enmeshed. I hope to be the change. I do want a kid or two one day.

I’m also not tolerant of in laws interfering, couples should have freedom. I’ve seen so much interference over my life

This is true. I’m still impressed that they pulled everything out of under the bed

Wow... that's really impressive!

Last year, I was watching Hoarders on Tubi. It was such an eye opener to see the emotional attachment that hoarders have with their things. (Oh, I'm not saying you are a hoarder at all!). Then, these people came in a cleared their houses. It was amazing to see how efficiently they worked to just get it done in a few days! @PeppyPatti

@creative_writer we are in the perfect place to learn new relationship skills that our parents never learned.
@tyme and @Jynx use to facilitate a weekly skills topic in Peer Group Chat. Supported by post topic discussion thread and website links with more information.

I don’t know if it’s ever coming back?

Actually, I'm going to raise that @Glisten . I really enjoyed those chats. Thanks for the reminder. It was the platform that we could no longer use. We tested zoom with only chat, but it was bad.. hence we have the Recovery Club groups... but it doesn't replace text chat I guess.

Hey @Glisten , can you email the above to team@saneforums.org

I want to collate that and use it as part of ongoing changes at SANE. I would like to PGC back. I felt so connected with everyone and it was a great 'social' outlet twice a week.
