Happy New Years Eve 2025! Feel free to tag any members I may have missed - sorry!

This is a discussion post to celebrate the past year of 2025 and to let others know what’s been great, not so great and what is going on in your world tonight and into the new year. Feel free to let others know your highlights, lowlights, etc, as well as what you’ve got planned for tonight, if anything! Basically, anything goes so feel free to join in and enjoy the last of 2025!

I realise that today may be difficult for some forum members and that’s perfectly okay if you don’t feel like celebrating or sharing anything. The main thing is that you are here and that’s a massive achievement so well done on making it to today and to the end of the year👍🏻!

I’ll get this party started with some ideas, etc. Feel free to add to the list - I look forward to seeing what other things forumites list and have enjoyed over 2025.

- Favourite Sporting Event- Brisbane Lions AFL Grand Final win followed by the Hobart Hurricanes Women’s Big Bash Cricket grand final win

- Favourite holiday- a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef on Carnival Splendor followed by my trip to Echuca

- Favourite new hobby - Learning how to do diamond painting at a mental health facility in February and keeping up the hobby afterwards

- Favourite music - Luke Combs (recently discovered him and love his music)

- TV Show - Gossip Girl on streaming app 9Now and Gogglebox

- Greatest Achievement this year - Becoming a carer for my housemate and learning how to navigate the carer space with new strategies gained from accessing a peer carer giving me ideas on how to handle this new role. A shout out to all forumites who have helped me as I’ve worked through this new role and its various challenges- thank you! Also being accepted into the Bachelor of Social Work for next year at uni - 2026.

- Favourite Craft Hobby - Knitting followed by crochet with several projects like kids jumpers, blankets and beanies completed for charity. My 4mm crochet hook also became my new favourite craft tool of the year along with my 4.5.mm knitting needles as they really helped me deal with stress and anxiety over the year.

- Favourite Scent for Mental Health - Eucalyptus

- Favourite book I read - The Road Trip by Tricia Stringer

- Favourite self care strategies this year - Crochet granny squares, journaling and using my eucalyptus spray

Tonight is a quiet night at home watching tv or maybe a movie with my housemate and having pizza. I’ll watch the fireworks displays on TV as well.

Next year is full of exciting times with me going back to uni to study my social work qualification- 4 years- whilst living in student accommodation for the first year at least. It’ll be weird being back on campus as the last time was for my first degree in 2004 - University of Tasmania in Launceston- but I’m looking forward to it and the new adventures and challenges it offers at a new uni. Roll on 2026!

Lets continue this 2025 party🥳!

Take care!

Re: New Years Eve 2025 Discussion Thread 🥳

Thank you @Judi9877 . I know many others around the world feel like this every day. Many in worse situations. It is hard to make the choice everyday to be here. Honestly without my children I don't think I would have the strength. In my mind I keep on seeing their faces with me no longer around and I just can't do it to them. It is to them alone I owe my life.

I have them and a friend. My husband fades in and out with his mental illness so sorry to say he doesn't really count as a support and were I gone I think he would just close up emotionally even more and be fine. He is wired very differently to me. His parents really stuffed him up emotionally and then he has childhood trauma. My parents, well they have their own issues so I need to be strong for me and the kids.

Things feel really off for me. I feel it in my brain. I had an appointment with the Dr on the 24th. I have to check my bloods and hormones. My best friend is the one coming over with her partner. I am glad they were available tonight to be with me. My parents will be with my sister so it is just us. So this is the first year without my parents around. It's tough.

Wishing you a 2026 filled with more joy than sadness. Hugs to you.

@Judi9877 @Chasingsunsets @Shaz51 @Healandlove @GezzaP

I am grateful for 2025, it taught me a lot.

I learnt that if I don’t give in to stress and anxiety that I can succeed in a course of study. I have never succeeded educationally before despite being extremely intelligent. I have also been able to volunteer as a Peer Guide here the second part of the year. I am grateful for all of the forums members that I have had the pleasure of interacting with. Thank you for making it a great year!!!

@MJG017

You might want to consider what has been good for you this year

I think my study would top the list. They did give me that award for it, so it seems only right to go with that for this year.
