~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@MissGremlin I have faced homelessness many times. I have moved over 20 times. One of my least favourite things

@taali I have extras only Private Health Insurance. I think I work out about $400 ahead by December each year

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Taali you're such a sweetheart, thankyou ❤️.

I'm on the DSP and get the rent assistance through them.

It's really getting hard to live with the way the cost of living is. My income isn't enough to cover everything, I don't have credit cards, smoke, drink, do drugs, go out or do anything for myself other than buying my diamond art kits from shein or temu which I allow myself to do occasionally as it's all I've got to bring some sort of joy into my life.

@DogMan79 I'm sorry you've faced homelessness many times, it's such a scary space to be in. I've been lucky to be in this house for 10 years but prior to that I moved several times as leases were only for 12 months at a time and then the owners either came back or sold the property.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Wow @DogMan79 that's really quite some moving

I'm glad you come out a little ahead, but it's not really enough. Especially when we go through weeks of only just making ends meet.

Hoping things work out for both of you @Taali

And you spread your wings to bring joy to all of us dear @MissGremlin

Thank you for that!

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Sounds like you are in a really bad rental situation @MissGremlin I'm sorry you are stuck in that predicament. Why do you need a big house for one person? I know you have your dog and would need a yard. Do you share with anyone or have kids of your own? I hope you can sort out something. I dont want you homeless. You are such a caring and lovely person and deserve better. Its hard making changes when you have MI like moving house or even confronting a landlord who wont fix a problem that is causing you a lack of safety. All that money going on rent for a big house with no money left for anything else

I worked out what was causing my allergy. Any other time I had allergy it was due to gluten causing leaky gut. I bought oats that were labelled gluten free but I knew the company was in a court case because there were traces of gluten in their product years ago. I think outlets like mine are still selling them, so the allergy started when I ate their "gluten free" oats marked on the label. So found another gluten free brand today and wont buy the brand I got. Its misleading and should be taken off the market. I think they still have bags of oats selling on the internet since their court case. Have been listening to an intestine healing audio which is great for leaky gut. You can really feel your innards heal lol

@SmilingGecko I can't talk about the specific details of my living situation on here. It's not the land agent that's the problem though, it's the owner of the property that isn't doing the work.

That's so bad that they sold them with traces of gluten, it can cause a severe allergic reaction in people with Coeliac disease. I'm glad you've found a healing audio to listen to that helps. It made me giggle to read that you feel your innards heal 😂.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko I couldn't agree more that @MissGremlin deserves better

Leaky gut how awful for you

Hope it stops soon

Hang in there both of you @Taali

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Thankyou @Taali sweet, life can be pretty cruel at times. I try hard to bring joy and support others as much as I can, it's part of what keeps me going.
