~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Oh my, I love a stew. Yummy 😋

Private health insurance does usually get me the help I need so it's good that I got it when I was able to.

Please enjoy the stew on my behalf @SmilingGecko

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko my rent is ridiculous, they tried putting it up by $70 a week in March, I managed to get them down to $45 a week. It's still crazy given that they need to do major work on the property.

Woah @MissGremlin thats a bit steep. My first flat I got was $110p/w thats how much rentals have soared since then. I've seen people rent just a small studio in the CBD with kitchenette and bedroom with no loungeroom for thousands a month. My house insurance and rates are ridiculous.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko I pay $475 a week now, it was $320 when I first moved in here. It's an old house built in the early 70's and it needs so much done to it, things that actually affect the safety of those that live here. But yet nothing gets done and they keep putting the rent up.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@MissGremlin that is astronomical rent and very concerning about your safety in that house. I know you have a dog but wondered if something smaller like a unit or flat would be less rent. I know its so hard just securing a rental property these days with queues of applicants spilling into the street. My house is a 70's house as well, very dilapidated with shifting foundations

I just felt so sick today. Could barely breathe at one stage and nearly passed out. Wondered what was going on whether it was allergy. After the symptoms settled I checked my astrology and it said it was allergy. I have had this happen to me before. Have booked an appointment with the GP. I'm keeping a food and liquids diary for the time being to try and isolate what caused it but I have had anaphylaxis before and used to see an allergist. May have to get a new Epipen as my other one would be past useby date.

Heres the astrology screenshot for today a moon quincunx neptune in my 6th house of health

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko I'm sorry that you're not feeling well. Take it easy and maybe see your GP if it keeps up. Rest and fluids for you my love 💓

@MissGremlin your rent seems ridiculous to me, especially as they aren't keeping up with repairs.

Can you look for something else or is that too much right now?

Take care friends 💚

Hey thought today was good for this

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko there's one room that the ceiling is almost completely falling down and they've known about it for over 5 years, it's just continuing to get worse. Unfortunately I need more space and so a unit or flat isn't suitable for me. Trying to have a house on the disability pension is almost impossible with the current rental market.

That sounds really scary, I'm sorry you experienced that today. Hoping you can get some answers when you see your GP. Look after yourself sweet ❤️.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Taali all the houses around where I am are well over $550 a week now. As it is when they put my rent up next year I'll be facing being homeless as I can't afford to pay anymore. This year's increase was too much and I'm struggling to afford to live.

Oh no @MissGremlin

I wish I could help, but anonymity prevents me

Do you receive a DSP?

Can you apply for some rent relief?

Where are you in Australia?

It's really not fair. Is it?

You're such a kind person who shares yourself here with us.

You are in my thoughts and I send you lots of love and hope ❤️ @Taali
