~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Sad to hear that. Any way i can help?

**

To our own inner child,

To think less of ourself than the truth itself

Brings us much pain and suffering.

Our worth is at an incredibly high price,

For we all carry an inherent, intrinsic value.

*

Negative patterns bring cynical doubts inside,

Letting low self-esteem rob us of a good life.

Untruths roam freely through heart and mind,

Internalised falsehoods extinguishing our happiness.

*

Embracing our authentic truth brings us a better life,

While believing falsehoods brings pain and grief.

So lets hold onto the the truth that is ourselves,

and not let negativity squander our true potential.

*

Taking hold of our own precious, honest truth.

A life grounded in truth is safe from lies that hurt.

Authentic love will comfort our weary hearts,

Gently remaking our life, even down deep anew.

@DownMoreThanUp That’s a beautiful passage you posted. I have a lot of problems showing love and empathy to myself. It comes from childhood traumas and all of it is now catching up on me in my 50’s. I’m very depressed and have panic and anxiety. I feel very alone right now. Need company and understand. A safe place to rest. Just real connection with people who understand.

@Cuddlebear sorry to hear that, love. You are surrounded by your forum community! 💎 I hope you will be ok today despite how hard going things are for you . It will get better. These days just take hold of us and lead our thoughts into dark spaces. Its really difficult to cope in situations like this. Been there so many times. Just stay with us in the loop ♥️. Wanted to share with you I bought myself a lovely dress off ebay yesterday had only planned to do window shopping but finally found a dress to match a coatigan I have. Thought I could not really afford to splash out but it was a used dress in excellent condition at a reasonable price. Had a chat with my GP who is now op-shopping because she liked what I wore. It will save her money. Its so hard for middle class professionals. All their money goes on maintaining cars, homes and raising families apart from being taxed at the highest levels. It really is difficult.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@SmilingGecko Wow I’m rapt you found an affordable dress on eBay. Things are so expensive right now. It sounds like the dress is gorgeous. How good is it your GP liked it so much that Oo shipping is something they will now do.

Yes the days are very hard for me. I’m not getting a break at all. I’m trying hard to keep connected here. This anhedonia with depression panic and anxiety is an awful combination. I don’t get any relief.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@MissGremlin Sorry to hear you are having a rough one today. Try this: Pick one memory from the past that has a really positive association for you and focus on it. As you do, sif or stand the way you would have done at the time, breath like you would have done then, put the same expression on your face and copy the body language as close as you can. Then, pur your hands on your hips like Superwoman and stand as if you had a long flowing cape. The body and emotions form a psybernetic loop - one follows the other both ways. If you get fully into it emotionally you will change your state my dear. Why not give it a try?💜
