~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@Mustang67 loving the don't care posts, they remind me not to give a toss about my toxic sister. Thank you xo

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Mustang67 Awesome that this worked for you and your partner. Our situation is different but still a lot the same. Hopefully we get there to. Major changes needed on both sides. But both sides working on it and hoping the result will be good but open to realising this may not be.

@PeppyPatti 💯 % correct. Red 💃🏼

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@PeppyPatti my initial reaction was to say, what is wrong with some people. Even if you are busy or in a rush, it is polite to say hi to people (even if you don't know them). That is what I do.

But then I was thinking what if they are anti-social or socially awkward. Did you get to mention it to your brother at any stage before leaving?

I hope you got to spend some decent time with your brother and his children (if they were with him), before you left.

I asked Google what is acceptable in this day and age.

Contextual Considerations:

  • The "Rule": While not strictly required, a simple nod, smile, or "hi" is often considered polite etiquette to show you recognize their presence.

  • Acquaintance Status: Since they are friends with your brother, they may view you as an acquaintance, raising expectation slightly.

  • When it is Not Rude: It is not rude to avoid initiating a greeting if you do not know them well or if you are in a crowded, public space where you are not expected to acknowledge everyone.

  • When it is Rude: Purposefully avoiding eye contact while passing someone you know, especially if they have noticed you, is usually considered rude.

If they are uncomfortable, a polite smile or nod is sufficient to show civility without requiring a full conversation.

@ENKELI That exactly right. Don't waste your time with someone who is toxic. Stay as far away from them as possible, and ignore anything they say, as really, deep down that relates to their issues and not yours.

Thanks @Glisten

I seem to get a tad confused over red and white

@DownMoreThanUp I really hope you and your wife do get there, as I can feel there is something special that the two of you have together and it is worth doing everything you can to reunite your relationship and get that sparkle back. You both deserve to be happy together.
