~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@Mustang67 I love your posts and may be late to reply over the next few weeks but please keep me on the list. Thanks lovely xoxo

Will do @ENKELI I have culled this list now, so it won't take so long typing in all the names manually like I used to. It took forever. Lol

If you are new to the forum, welcome. I find the members on here to be non-judgemental and very supportive, hopefully you find the same. I post these sorts of quotes sometimes daily or every couple of days, but if you do not want to receive them, just reply to this message and tag myself @Mustang67 and ask me to remove your tag from my list. I hope you have an enjoyable day.

I would like to do the last one @MissGremlin, but I am running around today doing appointments etc for my mum. Fingers crossed I will be able to rest this afternoon 🤞

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Mustang67 Thanks for sharing those. i struggle a little with the second one tho.

i do have a rather sensitive question tho. For i understand how self care is really important after hurt has been caused.

Yet how would such a statement sound if the culprit had been truly sorry for what happened and the hurt that had been caused. What about when the culprit seeks to make up and rebuild some kind of relationship again? Taking full responsibility for the hurt caused?

Do you think under such circumstance some kind of relationship could be restored legitimately to some degree or would such a rule still apply? What would be the things hindering that after forgiveness has taken place you think.

Of course distrust would remain to various degrees, but would that still need to interfere with our need for self care after we have forgiven them the hurt caused?

@Jynx @MissGremlin @TAB @ENKELI

For me these have been issues in my life with both especially with my dad but for a long time also with my mum. And i found with my dad that forgiveness only really became real to me after i was able to freely speak to my dad without seeing/feeling/fearing him in the (hurt) of the past.

With mum this process came much later. Me suppressing the hurt she had not loved me. And did cause me to shove her rather crudely out of my life fro some time waking up to that reality. Only now, with her at 92, can i finally talk to her without feeling aggrieved by her the hurt she has caused me.

i do realise you may be facing very different forgiveness issues. This is not about you or me, but the statement for i can see more possibilities can be true with self-care still intact, than the one stated.

Have a great day!
