~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

It can be so hard to let go, even of our bad life, yet only letting go of what hurts heals the hurt!

Letting It Go...

When the weight says stay here, don’t move, don’t fight,
and the dark feels safer than stepping to light,
that’s the moment the lie digs in the deepest—
that this pain is your home, and leaving is weakness.

But bad life clings like it’s all you’ve got,
even when it’s poison, even when it rots—
and letting it go feels like losing your skin,
yet it’s the first breath of life coming back in.

You don’t win by holding what’s tearing you through,
you don’t heal by staying where hurt feels “true.”
There’s a quiet strength in loosening your grip,
in letting the suffering start to slip.

Not all at once—just enough to see,
that you are not what this state makes you be.
Let bad life fall, even inch by inch—
that’s how you live when everything says flinch.

@Mustang67 i love the last one. So true!

@Jynx @tyme @Bunniekins @Kindcrystal

i have been struggle with my ultra rapid shifting moods. And states of self which can get me into doing or thinking silly things.

A No Conclusions Mood Shifting

I observe the states that pass through me,
not as verdicts carved in stone,
but weather moving through the mind,
never calling it my own.

When my anxiety rises, or anger burns,
when light feels too high and bright,
I do not see them as true or my fate,
I do not conclude i'm wrong or right.

For my truth remains when storms have gone,
My true self does not change with shifting ground.
for what feels absolute within this storm
is always only a lot of noise unbound.

So I hold myself quiet, on a simple line
not to pressure me, but to give grace.
no conclusions while my state is shifting,
i have no true identity in this place.

Learn to see without self-condemning weight,
To know i'm not the judge’s extended hand,
to let these moments pass through me
until I can again in truth take a stand.

So that when my minds falls into distortion,
I do not turn on myself in hate or blame
but return to my truth without punishment,
without the disgrace, without the shame.

For the truth of me is held in the known,
not by overwhelming fear, but love alone.
For i'm not lost when I am shaken
i will return when this storm has flown.

@DownMoreThanUp do you find writing these poems and getting how you feel out in the open, that it helps at all? I hope so. Because reading your posts shows exactly what you are going through and it must feel herendious. I truly feel for you and hope you can find a way out of this horrible place.
