~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

Hello @Mustang67 sweetheart, you're so welcome ❤️.

Things have been really bad for me lately, I'm trying hard to keep pushing through the best I can. I'm going to be homeless next month which is an incredibly scary thought for me.

@Mustang67 That Ravenwolf piece is powerful because it describes a resilience that is often born out of necessity.

I have this too.

And I live in Perth.
I am a survivor.

  • Less teeth, 10 overweight, no titles,

I want you to know that your messages actually keep me strong.

When I think about your situation and how you keep showing up, it reminds me of the strength it takes to

keep it all together even when things might look okay to the outside world.

I’m not ignoring anyone’s struggles here. But something about @Glisten makes me feel like this too. But……

However

Everyone’s stories here impact me very much. All individually. For instance @ENKELI lives with her brother I’m healthily jealous of her !! What about my brothers ?? Or @tyme plays with her nephew and niece.

Or @Appleblossom is a talented piano player and has a grandchild !!

Or @Cuddlebear sounds safe today — what about me ???

iv just screwed my life up because I told two people who live where I’m living some very vulnerable stuff about me. Shit.

@StuF @TAB im not as cool as them or not bunny friendly like @Bunniekins

I hear you when you say you’re doing what you have to do.

Please know your worth is seen.

You don't have to carry it all perfectly or quietly here—we are here to listen whenever you need to let the mask slip.

@tyme I remember one of my social workers drawing a diagram of the subconscious and the conscious mind. And explaining to me that the subconscious mind can't tell if you are lying or not, so it will believe whatever you tell it. So be careful what you tell yourself.

That has stuck with me ever since.

Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Awwww @MissGremlin Yes this is a very scary time for you. And I really feel for you, as I have just gone through the same thing. That is why I went quiet for a little while, as I was trying to cope with the thought of having to live in my car if we couldn't find anywhere. With two days before we had to be out of the caravan park, one of the residences mentioned his girlfriend works at a place that hires out caravans. We were told she would help us out. So, it was a life saver for us, but I don't think she did anything to help us out.

We had to find $772 to have the caravan delivered, pay a service fee (for what I am not sure) and two weeks rent in advance. Then they wanted $800 bond, but because I don't have a credit card, I had to pay $1,200 bond. Lucky for us, we had put this money aside, hoping to get a rental property. She delivered the caravan, but didn't level it, gave me a very brief description how everything works and then left. I don't feel that she was doing us any favours at all. And I have to insure the caravan, which I am contacting some places that specialise in caravan insurance where the van is being lived in, on a residential property. Apparently, it is not a straightforward insurance policy.

I hope you can find something quickly that is affordable for you. I assume you have contacted the places like Mission Australia, Anglicare etc

I know the feeling that you probably have in the pit of your stomach regarding it all. I will pray that you will find suitable accommodation. You are in my thoughts xxx
