~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

Hey hi hello! Welcome to the second iteration of...

~ The Toolshed ~

I decided to make a new thread, as the first one had errors and phantom pages, and was getting quite long! You can still find all the amazing pics, inspiring quotes, and uplifting messages of the first Toolshed here.

What is the Toolshed? Ain't a place to hang your hammer! Hehe this is a space where we can share the things that have helped us in our recovery. Tools, coping skills, inspiring ideas, and messages of hope and growth, is what this space is all about!!

You can stay connected and up to date on this space by favouriting, or by subscribing to the thread - head to the top of the page, and find the three dots to the right of the thread title (next to the star), click, and from the drop down menu you can 'favourite' or 'subscribe' - and clicking the star itself will also favourite the thread for you.

Favourite threads are then always available in your favourites list which should appear on the right hand side of most forums pages - or you can go to your profile and scroll down to the 'Favourites' section under your recent posts.

If you subscribe, it means that you will get a notification every time someone posts something new in the thread. So up to you if you simply want it to be always accessible, or if you want all the updates, or both!

I invite anyone who wishes to contribute to do so! It doesn't have to be pictures, it can be discussion, questions, videos, whatever you like! So without further ado, here's my latest batch!

@Mustang67 OMG wow! That's pretty cool! I noticed it said "privy mark" on it, but I had no idea what that meant. Now I do!

And you know.. I'm always going to be checking my $1 coins now in case someone has accidently used one in general circulation 😂.

I saw a $1 note the other day for the first time. But my friend no longer has his $2 notes. He thinks one of his children must have found them and used them (many year ago) lol, not realising they were "special". 😬 I had no idea that Aus used to have $1 and $2 notes before my friend told me.

@PeppyPatti I saw a segment saying that the change you carry around could be worth a lot more than the face value of the coin. For example the year 2000 $1 coin, there was a minting error which has placed a second rim on the heads side of the coin. This has sold for over $1,000. So I started researching what errors are out there. At the same time Woolworths released the Soccer coins, so I went to Woolworths first thing in the morning and got 5 in my change. I took them to my partner's work to show him, and found out several of them collect coins. But one of the guy's daughter is really into coin collecting, and after a few discussions about collecting with him, he put me in contact with her.

I started off wanting to collect a coin for every year that a coin was minted, and while doing that looking for errors along the way. So far the only error I have found is a 2 cent piece missing the SD (the designer's initials).

There are two that I have been trying to find for my collection. One is a rotation error, where when you turn the coin over the head side is not straight. The second one is what they call the alien error on a 5 cent piece.

I even purchased a microscope that I connect to my laptop and can take a photo of the close up. Since I have been living in a cabin for 7 years and now a caravan, there has never been space to sort through my collection.

After talking to the daughter of the person that works with my partner, my interest went in a different direction, which was the high end collectable coins made out of silver. She also introduced me to coin dips where on either FB or TT you can purchase a number to go into a draw to win a coin. And I have won a few.

This is the last coin that I won celebrating the 50th anniversary of the man landing on the moon.

Now I have gone in a different direction again and started collecting bullion coins to put aside for my daughter as her inheritance. They are not as pretty, but they have nice designs. I am currently trying to collect a mermaid series. This is the latest one in the series.

I am so happy that I found this hobby, as it has helped me socialise with people with a common interest and it has given me some sort of purpose. People have said that whenever I talk about coins my face lights up.
