Hi @MissGremlin Well we are out of the caravan park and have applied for a couple of rentals. But when you see information like there are 89 properties available in your search area and 981 people interested, it doesn't do much for my hopes of ever finding one.

Because we couldn't find anywhere to live, we have hired a caravan and put it at my mum's place until we find somewhere more permanent to live.

My relationship isn't that great either at the moment, because it was my partner's behaviour that got us kicked out of the park, so I am still not feeling that forgiving towards him.

I really do understand how hard things are cos I'm about to be homeless myself as they are putting my rent up by $70 a week which i physically can't afford 😞.

I'm sorry your partners behaviour is what got you kicked out, that would be really hard to forgive.

@MissGremlin I am so sorry to hear that you will be in the same situation. It is so bad at the moment. The cheapest place that we could find in the area that we were looking was $550 a week. I don't know how a single person would ever be able to afford to rent and survive at the moment.

It certainly doesn't help one's mental health when it is like it is at the moment. This is my second stint living in a caravan. I did it for a year with a previous partner, so we could save up a deposit for a house. We then built our dream home, which I lost because of my lazy ex-husband.

Everything has gone up, except the amount the income. How is one supposed to support themselves.

We are currently signed into a 12-week contract with the current company that we are using, but once the 12 weeks are up, a friend has offered his caravan for us to use, I am assuming at a reduced rate than we are currently paying. If we didn't do the 12-week contract, the weekly rate was $60 more expensive. And then they wanted bond, but because I don't have a credit card, the bond went from $800 to $1,200. I don't know why that should make a difference to the amount of bond that needs to be paid.

My partner wants to use this time to save for bond, 2 weeks rent in advance and also the first lot of utility bills, so we don't have to try and find/borrow money just to move in. It would also be nice to save for some basic furniture since all my furniture was ruined in the shipping container that I stored it in.

That's if our relationship lasts. He says that I seem distant and not like my normal self towards him. But what does he expect when my life has just been majorly disrupted because of him. It will take some time before I can accept the situation that I now find myself in, and forgive him for it.

@Mustang67 sorry sweetheart I fell asleep so only just catching up on posts now.

The rental prices are ridiculous and yes there's also nothing cheaper than $550 around my area. Like how is someone that's only on disability pension supposed to afford that plus then cover bills and food, it's just not possible.

It really doesn't help one's mental health. I'm so sorry that you lost your dream home cos of your lazy ex husband, that must have been really hard.

That's the thing everything has gone up but yet other than a couple of extra dollars a week they don't give us enough to keep up with the basic essentials as the cost of living rises.

I'm glad you at least have a caravan for now and the your friend has offered theirs after, it's at least something. Well I'd be in the same boat cos I don't have a credit card either, I run on if I can't afford something then I have to save for it not get myself into debt getting it if I can't afford it. But that seems silly to have to pay more just cos you don't have a credit card.

I think saving for everything while you can is a great idea and hoping it helps to be able to secure a property when you are ready to find one. I'm sorry your things got ruined when they were in a shipping container, that's just devastating.

I'm hoping the relationship does work out of that's what you both want. But yes it will definitely take time to forgive and heal from what's happened.
