That is entirely up to you @Former-Member. Don't feel you have to say anything. You need to feel comfortable

Hi again @Former-Member . Hope you managed today ok!

I agree with Utopia. This is entirely up to you. If you think it might help to share, then it might. The anonymity of this forum has a huge advantage in that it's a safe place to put something out there and not need to worry about any 'real life' fall out.

Sharing may also trigger some pretty intense feelings as well, but I feel like you understand this already.

I think you should use this space however you feel it might benefit you 🙂

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

Hello scared. Its great that you're talking. Although it is anonymous, we are all real people with very real experiences. Once something is out it loses power over us. We realise that we DON'T die. People will always react and respond. Its a part of our humanity. YOU are a part of humanity. Most of us here likely have suffered very traumatic events in our lives. I have. I have also done some stupid things. I have also self harmed. But I have also loved, and am open to many new and exciting experiences in my life. Sometimes, I don't really know why I am drawn to somebody's outreach. Maybe its because of your great big red heart! And thats the real you. Be gentle. Stay present. Just focus on a little object in front of you. Hold it gently and remind yourself that you have survived very much already. Great work reaching out today!!!!

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

Hi @Former-Member

I was too... and like you have felt very ashamed and scared of revealing that. Have always felt like there was a sign on my forehead that said it... labelled me as no good and nothing... BUT the things my head tells me is often clouded by what others taught me... and what they taught me served their own best interests and had little to do with me. Relearning now that I am me.. and... t r y i n g to challenge those beliefs... it's so hard though. I definitely learnt those lessons well! You are very far from alone!

Have you checked out Blue Knot foundation? they have a range of excellent resources to read and a helpline that may be useful for you too. I havent used the helpline, but have looked at the information.

Here with you,

lj

Re: disclosing very uncomfortable information

No judgement here ❤️

Sexual abuse is a huge thing to happen to you and it makes a lot of sense that you're struggling with the impact of it. From my understanding, shame and embarrassment are often experienced by people who have lived through sexual abuse. As difficult as it might be to fully believe, it was not your fault.
