I want to survive this and hear from other survivors like me

I want to survive this and hear from other survivors like me

Hello 🙂

i've gone through so much trauma in the last year and had no one i could trust to talk about it - i'd find someone who appearead to want to help but then had ulterior motives, i feel like when ur vulnerable you have a sign on your forehead to be taken advantaeg of - it draws in really toxic ppl, as i was also new to the NDIS i met afair few ppl who were quite financially motivated and tried to give me a lot of direct advice - direct advice that sounded to my traumatised brain like love and friendship - when i didn't do what they wanted or challenged them they disappearaed. I realise it was always conditional.

I have my good friends who I trust but its less and less - its me and my 3 friends against the world. I feel so scared of the world sometimes, like everything and everyone is a threat. I sufferd a very destablising and scary event 2 years ago and since then rebuilding has been a mess.

The way I get by is very small stetps - i leave the house, go for a cofee, have my lovely best friend support worker who I'll call Maisie, and have my really good friends who i have known for a long time.

I just feel so let down by this stupid world. I don't know how to not be cynical and hateful, after so much horrible stuff happens.
I have found the extetnt of mental health support I got when i reached out was just cheerleading - telling me that i'd be fine and how lucky i was - which was just really not true to the pain i felt inside.

Thank you for reading

We are here for you. I hear you are having these emotions. I just hope this psych is a better fit for you and your needs. Fingers crossed!

Also, how'd your 3D bear go? You needed to re-do parts of it because it wasn't right the other day? @Former-Member

I’m going to have to pull apart about half of the body of one bear first then start to rebuild. This time using glue to ensure the arms and head stay in place @tyme

currently focusing on other things including getting usb full on mixture of different cds. Have found can listen to songs that way on my portable dvd player

@Former-Member maybe you'll figure out the parking after a few sessions? i had my mental health meetings for 18 moths on a busy road with no parking - i did struggle. It is a consideration for me as well.
But i guess now that i think of it, where there's a will there's a way? i hope it works out great. you did this and you are strong and deserving

Still dealing with Could have, should have thoughts at times. Trying not to beat myself up over these thoughts @tyme

hanging on to words from someone outside the forums - when cant be open with a therapist due to fear of repercussions, that person is not the right one for me

similarly, if I say something that upsets someone on the forums I hope the person feels comfortable to let me know so we can discuss it. Can’t do anything if not aware something is wrong. I’d feel horrible if person/people didn’t feel safe to let me know.

unfortunately, things can be said at times with no negative intention by the sender but can cause upset for the receiver

For approx 2 1/2 years I’ve been lucky not to have to pay parking fees @EternalFlower I was allocated to psychologist I’ve been seeing as she is only one that works out of medical centre in shopping centre not far from me, parking at shopping centre is free for first 2 hrs.

Psychologist I’m being transferred to only works from rooms in town CBD on a busy road plus is a parking area close by. Costs per hour are same for parking on the street plus in parking area. Exception is if use app for parking area company, the costs for first couple hrs are lower than street parking.

Following near fatal car accident couple years ago, plus couple close calls which could have resulted in serious outcomes, I’m on high alert when in high traffic areas and/or near trucks. I try to avoid going to town CBD due to this. I’ve been suggested to do exposure therapy on my own to reduce my fears. Big difference watching as compared to being amidst traffic.

@Former-Member i really appreciate you speaking about this. it has been a barrier for me as well. I don't like public transport and my car is a safe space. I can sit in it before/after sessions and don't feel as "exposed."

parking for mental health consumers who drive is very important 🙂

Re: I want to survive this and hear from other survivors like me

@Former-Member ppl sometimes have conflict on forums but therr are some caring ppl too. The important thing is as u said that the person can let the other know that it hurt them. This is helpful also as it can show if the other person is open to reconcile and hear. A lot of ppl will surprise u and be very compassionate once they know they've upset someone. Repair is very healthy.
