New Book: Living With Schizophrenia

New Book: Living With Schizophrenia

Hey Forums Family!

I came across this talk on the radio on Saturday.

For those interested in leraning more about living with schizophrenia, you may be interested in interview on ABC Radio with Margaret Leggatt and Mary Ryllis Clark.

Start listening at around 2:44:58

https://www.abc.net.au/listen/programs/melbourne-saturdaymornings/saturday-mornings/105919134?utm_content=link&utm_medium=content_shared

I believe the book mentions SANE as Margaret Leggatt is a co-founder of SANE.

If you feel you want to purchase this book, SANE has been able to secure a 20% off discount code: LWS25

I'm interested to hear if anyone has read it. I've been told it is very helpful for carers/family members of people with a schizophrenia diagnosis.

@unreal really i can't believe they did it to you too!!! thats so funny. because in other situations a little familiarity can save your life - and be very helpful in establishing rapport

Re: New Book: Living With Schizophrenia

@unreal they made a whole deal that I was wearing a tshirt with a puppy dog on it - a lot of time and attention to descript it - like the size of the puppy, that it was screenprinted, etc

So so embarrasing lol. I suggest just wearing plainn clothes as possible in nthese settings

Exactly!!!
noticing something about a person and talking about it, i'm pretty sure is what we might call social skills. it's building rapport.
that comment though, overly familiar, it's enough to make one go crazy 😂

Re: New Book: Living With Schizophrenia

what you're describing "a lot of time and attention to describe it" sounds suspiciously like obsessive compulsive personality disorder
do you think they might lack their own insight?

Hello @unreal

thanks for the tag @EternalFlower I find Heidi’s writing very satirical and sad but true, yet she’s using her wit. I love the idea of schizyinc. I heard about it through mad studies. Developing art and writing and creativity… is a good way to go

@EternalFlower
just fyi, i posted a response about the irony being demonstrated by them being overly focused on documenting such irrelevant detail on your t shirt, and for what purpose.
it's just weird 😂
