Reality vs illusion.

Reality vs illusion.

I wonder were people to see their true selves would they strive to better themselves or would they just destroy all mirrors. so many people hate themselves yet hide it all away deluding themselves into believing their own rhetoric monologue, hiding within the illusion and ego why do they not seek improvement or allow the freedom to relieve the soul, why do so many if not all deny their vulnerabilities we are a weak species we were wrongly provided this intellectual capacity for our own self preservation, as on no other level can we compete with other predators, I say wrongly provided because obviously arrogance, ego and greed to the point of complete environmental obliteration without consideration of anything but our personal comfort and pride is insane.

of course this relates only to the majority of people I have met/known during the course of my life so far, others may provide hope but I cannot take it on faith some things need to be tangible

hello @Former-Member @Redraw

Interesting debate.

I might add that not everything is black and white.

Nothing is definite

Everything is interchangeable.

So perhaps substitute good and bad for the potential for good and bad. Changes the outlook and insight.

Feel free to respond.

I can agree to disagree, as can we all.

hello @Redraw

Very deep thoughts

Your user name redraw. You have wrapped yourself in your deep thoughts. Self-preservation.

You feel unheard, dismissed, that you do not fit in this world.

Yes there is much violence and brutality present in the world. There are many self-centred, power hungry, materialistic, selfish people around us.

You wrote:

people live for and desire merely the visceral, I have much depth were I provided the freedom I could show so many sides to myself yet people have no knowledge or want or care to know who I really am.

I used to have those very same thoughts, carry my feelings very deep inside. Some to this day are still buried, have not seen light for a long time. I wore my mask with everyone. I questioned why I listened to others yet did not receive the same in return. So many did not realise the mask was there. I could have just been faceless, it would not have made any difference. They just wanted to talk only about themselves.

Look at what is happening all around the world. People are waking up, marching, waving banners. To stand up for one's rights is honourable. To stand for someone who has no policies, who manipulates and encourages racism, exclusion is not honourable.

Look to nature. There is much beauty in this world. Everchanging skies, shapes of clouds. The many colours of plants, earth. The moving waters of the world. oceans, lakes, rivers, streams. waterfalls, puddles.

Animals, insects, birds.

There is much to celebrate. Do not busy yourself with ideas of the selfish.

Read desiderata if you haven't read it for a while.

Live by your values, principles. They are yours.

I do hope you find some inner peace. You are not alone even though your pain is so strong and unimaginable that any other living soul can feel that way.

please spoil yourself with nature and tell us about what you see

take care xxx

Hi @Former-Member and of course @utopia

the more beatings you take the more violence and abuse you experience the more you internalise.

one of the things I find interesting is people marching waving banners and whatever else, from what I have seen there is much ridiculousness involved, people protesting trump yet when the time was upon them they sat at home and did nothing, a lot of the feminist rallies women walking around naked supposedly for women's rights, objectifying themselves and worse in some cases to increase numbers, and without actual knowledge of what they talk about. There was one on the news this morning about altering traffic signals to "supposedly" equalise them, now the walk, don't walk signals were in no way gendered the character was a stick figure I see no sign of gender. People protest for the sake of protesting most know little about or really care little about what they are doing.

@utopia now what I said is a generalisation based on what I have seen of people, I do get disheatened when people take such things personally, I don't include people I don't know, and it's a majority a high majority in my experience but still not everyone I can never include everyone that would be unjust, I have seen people run head first into abusive relationships, physical and emotional male and female, I have seen people bash other people and seen men praise them and women desire them, I have seen drug dealers idolised, i have heard of murderers and rapists loved, I have seen good people ignored and hated.

Its so hard to be alone forever............ it hurts that I don't matter...............I only ever wanted one thing in this world and it would appear to be lost to me.................the scars get ever deeper and still it doesn't matter..............

Re: Reality vs illusion.

When it comes to black and white, good and bad, it's all in weights and measures, imagine a set of scales.

lets go mild because others are likely to be removed, theft, a person steals food, bad, food is to feed a starving family, good, does one offset the other in this case the purpose in the theft was to maintain life so the good offsets the bad, but did the person steal tv because they had no tv then there is no offset no matter if the person stolen from had a dozen. Hopefully this makes sense, people always look at this as black and white hahahaha it's not that simple, there are levels and depths

Re: Reality vs illusion.

@Redraw But... what if the person stealing the TV considered Tv watching an "idiot box" and was therefore altrustic in motivation. That is saving the person who might have purchased it. 😛

In response to: Re: Reality vs illusion.

Re: Reality vs illusion.

So the person stealing saw the tv as bad, firstly were that the case it would not of been theft it would be more likely destruction, but still no offset as is it his right to determine what another person has the right to own, where is the good the offset not viable

Re: Reality vs illusion.

@Redraw Oh I don't know. I think saving the world one TV at a time is an altruistic ambition. Misguided in its effectiveness perhaps, but certainly could be a worthwhile sentiment.

Re: Reality vs illusion.

While TVs might be an idea I think it would be better to go with computers/internet, televisions are much less of a risk though filled with shallow, simplistic drivel. I do notice the contradiction of using a computer and Internet to make that statement.

Re: Reality vs illusion.

Lol @Redraw Well at least you don't lack self awareness! That was funny! Actually did make me laugh out loud literally. 😄

Re: Reality vs illusion.

@Redraw. I still believe the majority of people have more 'good' than 'bad'.
People who 'love' prisoners and start relationships with those who have committed violent crimes - have a mental health issue of some sort.
Violence often breeds violence - not always.
Women and men can believe that because a person 'loves' them - that they are willing to put up with physical or emotional abuse. That's so sad and unfortunately happens to many people.
So lets start educating our kids. Mindfulness and meditation at school. Communication skills and self confidence. The ability to say no. The knowledge that they are perfect as they are.
I know there are bad things that happen in this world. But I still believe in the goodness of people.
Black, white, grey.
